No, I will not be reading notification.
Seems Twitter's transformation to a full hate amplification platform is complete.
There are some pretty awesome people here.
I won't be returning.
Probably the biggest difference between Tony Stark and Phony Stark is that, at the end of the movies, Tony realized that tech can't solve people problems.
One of my communities seems to be very happy moving to Mastodon. (infosec.exchange, to be exact.)
I'm wondering where the other communities will go.
Quick reminder: Unless you've set up end-to-end encryption, direct messages should never be considered private messages.
This is even more true of Mastodon where non-employees are admins.
When Google Plus went down, I didn't really increase my time on other social media sites to compensate.
I eventually found communities elsewhere, and kept in touch with those I was closest to.
But going to another site didn't fix anything. No site can replace the shut down one.

Right now a disk is filling up on a server somewhere in some data center that a person who has just been laid off has been manually clearing every few days and when that disk fills up Twitter will go down.

Many are using this crisis to claim that public health measures have somehow impacted our immunity - THIS IS NOT A THING.
The public health measures we took in the last few years only helped reduce the burden of illness and did not in fact cause this crisis. (8/8)

ALT Why is this occurring? Unfortunately, there is a massive healthcare staffing crisis. Healthcare workers are dealing with illness themselves, many are leaving healthcare due to being burnt out and underpaid. Without staff, hospital beds are in short supply. As well, there is an ongoing shortage of fever reducing medicine for children. Many people are using this combination of respiratory illness surge in a stretched thin healthcare system to claim that public health measures have somehow impacted our immunity - THIS IS NOT A THING. The public health measures we took in the last few years only helped reduce the burden of illness and did not in fact cause this crisis.
"Half the ads and twice as relevant for $8/mo"
So you're extorting me, but not actually delivering on what free ad blockers deliver... all while doubling down on selling my info?
The Propaganda:
Sleep for 8 hours.
Work for 8 hours.
Play for 8 hours.
Reality:
Works for 8 hours.
Sit within 10 minutes of your desk for 1 hour while eating (not paid).
Commute for 2 hours.
Cook for 30 minutes.
Clean for 1h30 minutes.

If a billionaire makes a bad business decision, they don't skip a meal.
If I make a bad business decision, I could be homeless.
Tell me again who has more skin in the game.

This is pretty shocking. Well worth the read.
I'm almost tempted to disable my adblocker on Twitter so that I can start blocking ads manually again...

bigots not knowing what a transcriber does is now my lifeblood - this is the 3rd time this has happened, lmfao
"Be a tourist in your own city."
My city has a sculpture of the Space Shuttle despite being very far from the Space Coast. (Full stack, shortly after launch; not just the orbiter.)
It earned that sculpture, because the people who were the loudest before STS-51-L lived here.
"Be a tourist in your own city."
It has a 3 storey mural of The Candy Bomber ( google.com/search?q=the+cand… ), because he grew up here. It's a chilling piece of Cold War history. One of those feel-good stories that should have never been necessary.
