The purpose of bail is to ensure a return to court but at times DOC fails to bring so many people to court that appearance rates are higher for people who are released pre-trial*. People may dislike provisions of the bail law, but remember the whole damn system is guilty as hell.

In night court tonight and you’ll be shocked to hear that @CorrectionNYC once again failed to produce a defendant for 180.80 (Grand Jury testimony) and the DA indicted him anyway. DA will now have to defend this in motion practice while defendant stays on Rikers. Well done, DOC.
