Kate Berlant says getting off her phone made her feel intimate with her own life again.
“I was doing days with no phone, and suddenly it’s 1904 and I’m a novelist.”
She says going without scrolling brought back forgotten memories.
“When you go off your phone, you start having childhood memories. I’m driving, and suddenly I’m back in the kitchen, I’m 10 years old, and my father comes in. It’s unbelievable. My brain is like, ‘Thank you.’ It’s opening up and flooding me with images.”
She says constant scrolling makes you lose touch with yourself.
“You just start to think again. You become more intimate with your life. We can talk about the horror machine of this, but on a personal, psychological level, you’ve lost all intimacy with yourself. That’s the crisis.”
“Once you get a little bit of that intimacy back, you’re like, ‘Alright, now this is really medicinal.’”

Hayley Williams: "If I could tell you anything: go to smaller shows than this, go to little shows at independent venues. Find your people, find your favorite music, and support that. We are all that we fucking have."

During Turnstile’s show at The Criterion in Oklahoma City on October 5, Brendan Yates paused mid-performance after he saw a security guard attempting to hit a fan who tried to cross the barrier.
Yates immediately kicked out that security guard from the venue and thanked the other members of security who were “doing a great job.”
“There’s no need for anyone to be swinging on anyone just coming over the barrier. That security guard cannot be here…and the rest, thank you for adjusting and keeping this peaceful,” Yates told the crowd before resuming the show.
& at 33 u start transcending all space & time continuum, finally completely unrestricted by the boundaries of social structure & ego. you are a bird & nothing matters except your oat latte in the morning & if your cat is happy.
