At 10:30 pm last night, reports that @odisha_police detained Dr Randall Sequeira, doctor to Adivasi communities, and Laxman Naik, leader of affected villages opposing @Vedanta_Group’s mining in Niyamgiri and Sijimali. Their whereabouts are still unknown, no access to a lawyer.

Some years ago, I had gone with Jean to meet with the DGP of Bihar. The DGP was in a meeting with 3 senior IPS officers. On seeing Jean, they smiled & nodded with respect. One proudly said that he was Jean's student & the other two said they learned a lot from reading him.
