Only real complaint at the moment is the dwindling daylight situation. Same solar angle as Valentine's Day and solar winter (darkest quarter of the year) starts next week. #wbz

Unprecedented behavior from the #PolarVortex deserves an unprecedented blog. Usually I try to argue what's the the correct forecast, here I try to convince you that whichever forecast you believe to be correct, don't. Hopefully thought provoking! Blog live published.aer.com/aoblog/aob…

The stormy eastern pattern could raise snow chances in the Mid-Atlantic.
“Despite leaning toward less snow than normal overall, we believe the chances of at least one blockbuster snowstorm may be somewhat higher than usual,” @capitalweather said.

That fog in the first picture from @cccti is what settles & stays in the @OnTheWatauga river valley and Valle Crucis, NC. It cleared this morning around 10:00 AM which is common this time of year with the longer nights. Low this morning of 35 & heading to the upper 60’s. #ncwx

Despite what some of the usual bad actors have wanted you to believe (one example below), this year could not be a more classic east-based/traditional El Niño event.
Global OLR anomalies are tracking very close to 1997-98, the gold standard for an east-based El Niño event
Not liking this but not surprised (September was the warmest on record across the US and the 2nd warmest world wide ) October seems a bit cooler but still in record territory so in my mind with a record warm El Niño I’m expecting the trend to continue 🥵
Swipe ➡️ for the warmest end to October we've seen in a while 🔥🎃
1⃣ Charlotte stays in the 70s nearly every day, topping out near 80° on Nov 2
2⃣ CPC 6–10 day (Oct 30–Nov 3): Above normal across the East
3⃣ CPC 8–14 day (Nov 1–7): Still above normal — the warmth has staying power
Normal highs right now: upper 60s.
My forecast: upper 70s. 😎
Halloween looks warm and dry for the kiddos, and the clocks fall back Sunday morning—but the temps sure aren't.

It’s been one of the most beautiful stretches of weather in 2026. Saturday was a bit cooler with a high of just 63 and a stiff breeze at times. No frost here in Valle Crucis on Saturday. Saw Steep Canyon Rangers in Boone Saturday—they put on a great show. 👏
