Tonight, our hearts are with the Lakewood Police Department following the tragic loss of an agent killed in the line of duty during a shooting that injured three other agents and a civilian. When tragedy strikes one of our public safety partners, it impacts us all. Our firefighters work side by side with Lakewood Police agents every day. We respond to emergencies together, serve the same community, and rely on each other when it matters most. We extend our deepest condolences to the fallen agent’s family, friends and colleagues, and wish those injured a full recovery. West Metro stands with Lakewood Police during this heartbreaking time.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
