Sucks to see @variety using @ThePlaylistNews quote without bothering to link to either the podcast (the episode isn't even out yet, mind you) or the original article. xitter.cf/Variety/status/2113127…

I see people are being COMPLETELY normal about my reaction. Truly a cesspool of intolerance on this platform.
Man, #Clayface will go down as the most frustrating film of the year. Frequently (maybe accidentally) brushes up against GENUINELY compelling ideas of societal expectations, repressed identity, queerness in media, gender dysphoria, visibility through art, only to be ignored or arrive at the least interesting version of itself. Everything is as superficial as Hagen's career. You can FEEL Flanagan's more esoteric examination of personhood trying hard to burst out of the confines of what's otherwise a campy B-monster movie, and man, does it suck to see. No idea why they didn't wait for him; it feels like an unforced error. A technically impressive film with some seriously GNARLY special effects, actors making a meal out of scraps, only to be let down by...the (rewritten) script, resulting in a tonally confused, albeit interesting and at times enjoyable, misfire that perhaps exposes Gunn's limitations as the head of the studio.

Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes. 🦇

Soderbergh always has director's backs. So cool and classy of him to do this. Truly one of the biggest champions in the business.
Steven Soderbergh is coming on to help finish principal photography the final weeks of DC Studios’ and Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman Part II.’ The news comes after production was paused on the film so that Reeves could attend to a family matter. More details here: deadline.com/2026/10/steven-…

For as viscerally intense, grotesque, and claustrophobic as #Whalefall is, it's the wistful reflections on a complicated paternal relationship that truly give the film its resonance. Completely blindsided me! Such a compelling examination of emotionally inept fathers and their distant sons reckoning with the lessons and legacy they leave behind. A film about our symbiotic relationship with the natural world and the way we communicate with it. 2026 continues to be the year of Austin Abrams, as he delivers another layered, physical, all-encompassing performance, supported by the emotional gravitas of Josh Brolin. Very Ad Astra, while also reminding me of 90s survival dramas. Great film!

I promise you, really and truly, that Greta Gerwig is a more devoted and passionate Narnia/CS Lewis reader than 99% of the people who are mad about her artistic choices
