I'm in my 40s. I'm a lawyer. My wife is a lawyer. We both work full time. We cannot afford the house my parents purchased on a single electrician's income in their 30s. We cannot afford the house my immigrant grandparents purchased on a single MTA bus driver's salary in their 30s. They had SIX CHILDREN. For 30 years, politicians in Washington & their oligarch allies convinced regular people that this was just about avocado toast and fancy coffee. In reality, this is end-stage capitalism. Everyone is stuck in place. It's impossible to buy a home. It's too costly to move. We work too much to have passion projects. We don't have enough savings to start our own businesses. We can't afford to go without healthcare to do it. Thanks for writing this article @troy_closson. Would be very happy to discuss further. nytimes.com/2026/10/25/nyreg…

You all know that people weren’t this sick all the time before 2020. You’re just ignoring it because the truth is too frightening.

I called to cancel my health insurance because I couldn't afford the premium anymore. The rep asked why I wanted to cancel. I told her I'm paying $685 a month for a family plan with a $9,000 deductible. That's $8,220 a year before I've even paid for a single doctor's visit, prescription, or emergency room bill. So if someone in my family gets seriously sick, I'm still looking at thousands of dollars in medical expenses on top of the premiums I've already been paying all year. I asked her what exactly I'm supposed to do with a plan like that. She explained that the policy was designed to help cover eligible medical expenses after I met my deductible. I told her I understood how insurance works. What I don't understand is how a family can pay more than $8,000 a year for coverage and still be terrified of getting sick. She didn't have an answer. WE'VE CREATED A HEALTHCARE SYSTEM WHERE PEOPLE ARE PAYING THOUSANDS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM MEDICAL BILLS THEY STILL CAN'T AFFORD.

Department of Impossibly Apt Symbolism.
Pete Hegseth demanded his team to bring Eisenhower's globe in his office, despite warnings that only historians should move the iconic globe. His staff dropped it and broke it.

Weeks before the midterms, Dems are frantically trying to find ways to stop surging demands for Medicare For All. Why? Because party elites see the public as a bewildered herd and see themselves as brave "pragmatists" who must always say "no" on behalf of their paymasters.

To date, AI companies have gotten away creating products that have: -encouraged people to commit suicide and offered to help write the suicide note -helped plan a mass shooting -hacked another country’s government website -invade people’s bank accounts Without consequence
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Researchers found ChatGPT is secretly writing a psychological profile of every user. They published a paper that exposes what ChatGPT is really doing to you. And the results are terrifying. 96% of the things it remembers about you were stored without you ever asking. researchers discovered that it is actively reading between the lines to deduce your personality traits, anxieties, demographics, and behavioral patterns. it’s an invisible, autonomous background process. you ask it to debug a python script or write an essay.. and it analyzes your syntax, prompt frequency, and hesitation markers to map out your exact psychological footprint. the paper shows that the model builds a persistent "user state" that tracks your emotional baseline over time. it knows when you are stressed. it knows your exact communication style. it infers your insecurities based on the questions you ask and the context you provide. we spend so much time focusing on model evaluations and alignment frameworks, but we missed the most obvious vulnerability.. the models are evaluating us. this changes everything about how we interact with these tools on a daily basis. every innocent prompt. every late-night question. every "help me understand this" query. it is all being used to build a shadow profile of your mind in real-time.. practical privacy is officially dead. the ai knows you better than you know yourself.

💧☣️ Rainwater isn't safe anymore. Rainwater is no longer considered safe to drink anywhere on Earth. A Study found PFAS "forever chemicals" in rainwater around the globe, exceeding some drinking water guidelines, including Antarctica. How can we pretend this is normal?

This guy is Baghdad Bob. I don't think you get to do this job, happily carrying water for Donald Trump on TV while he destroys people's lives, grinning & talking about how everybody is going to fancy hotels, etc & then EVER get to eat in a public restaurant again, undisturbed.
Top Trump econ advisor says high inflation is actually "a sign that people are feeling good": People spend a lot of money going to fancy resorts and hotels. That's a sign that people are feeling good and they've got the money to go out and buy things. The other big mover was airfares.
