While Monteverdi was renowned as a composer during his lifetime, he was all but forgotten within a decade of his death. Back then, musical culture prioritized what was new; "classical" music was hardly a thing.
Monteverdi's musical revival began only recently, in the 1970s.

We were saddened today to learn of the death of Chris Wilcox. Chris was an offbeat impresario, whose ability to dream big for Halifax brought us @scotiafestival & The Music Room, where we performed our annual fundraising concerts for many years.
