Thank you again @NVergopolan and Marissa Kivi for your contribution.
Excellent work led by Kivi and @hamzedokoo on assimilating SMAP-HydroBlocks #soilmoisture for #crop yield, tile flow, and #nitrate leaching predictions
We show how frequent soil moisture obs is key for predicting crop yield during water-stress conditions

.@PrincetonUPress is having a 75% off sale on selected books, including Ecological Forecasting, which is only $17! If you don't have a copy yet now's a great time to get one. press.princeton.edu/books/ha…
Today marks my final day as an assistant professor at @IllinoisCropSci. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from some of the brightest scientists and students in the world. #thankyouUofI
I'm also excited to announce that I'll be joining the @Indigoag science and modeling team to help tackle some of the most pressing climate change-related issues.
It was my absolute pleasure working with @prof_plewis and his great team at the university college London on providing a framework for directly integrating satellite imagery with process-based crop models. Please check out our work here:

Check our first attempt at providing a proof-of-concept carbon “reanalysis” product that harmonizes carbon pools (leaf, wood, soil) and fluxes (GPP, Ra, Rh, NEE) across the CONUS using sequential data assimilation. @PEcAnProject #NASA_CMS
New development and technical paper: Development of an open-source regional data assimilation system in PEcAn v. 1.7.2: application to carbon cycle reanalysis across the contiguous US using SIPNET doi.org/10.5194/gmd-15-3233-…
Check out this exciting work of Marissa Kivi (my first graduate student), which uses Ensemble Kalman Filter to fuse soil moisture measurements into APSIM. She jointly estimated model and observation error while performing both state and parameter assimilation #APSIM #cropmodel
Marissa showed constraining upstream estimates of soil moisture in APSIM results in substantially higher model accuracy and lower uncertainty in estimates of nitrate leaching.

Check out our prototype @NASA_Carbon @PEcAnProject CONUS carbon cycle reanalysis by @hamzedokoo @doctorjackpine Bailey Morrison and I. Also working on a high resolution downscaling, and then a North American reanalysis to come next
Discussion open for comments: A novel model–data fusion approach to terrestrial carbon cycle reanalysis across the contiguous U.S using SIPNET and PEcAn state data assimilation system v. 1.7.2 doi.org/10.5194/gmd-2021-236
I'm invited by the Isfahan University of Technology to give a talk in Farsi on recent advances in crop modeling on July 17th. Please DM me if you're interested to join. #cropmodeling

Excited to put such an unprecedented dataset into the public domain. RGB, thermal, and 3D point clouds at mm resolution, environmental data and dozens of plant traits - this #opendata can be used in #ComputerVision #MachineLearning #precisionag #Statistics #physiology
Data from seasons 4 and 6 are now in the public domain - see "Data From: TERRA-REF, An open reference data set from high resolution genomics, phenomics, and imaging sensors" doi.org/10.5061/dryad.4b8gth… 1/n #opendata #agdata #data
I feel like at some point we gotta ask ourselves, if it's worth downloading and maintaining god knows how many packages in R, when we just need few functions inside handful of these packages and the rest are dependencies for the functionalities that we never use . #rstat
