Following last week’s building collapse in Eastleigh, Nairobi, I joined PS Susan Auma Mang’eni, IEK Council members and multi-agency responders at the disaster command centre. IEK engineers provided technical advice on structural safety and building layout, contributing to the safe rescue of two people. Public safety must remain paramount. I urge all construction stakeholders to uphold professional standards, ensure strict compliance with building regulations and prioritise human life. Engineering is not just about building structures; it is about safeguarding lives. #IEK #EngineeringForPublicSafety – at Nairobi, Kenya

Yesterday, alongside Eng. Peter Njenga, Managing Director of KenGen, I joined KenGen Foundation initiatives supporting education. The handovers included five refurbished classrooms at Kamutu Primary School, a science laboratory at DEB Karuari Secondary School in Mbeere North, and fencing at Murang’a School for the Deaf. Both Mbeere North schools won the Green Initiative Challenge among 100 schools in the region. Investing in education and strengthening academia–industry linkages are essential to developing a skilled, future-ready workforce. Building skills. Empowering the next generation. Building Kenya’s future.
