Proud of the @NSF & @vermont_epscor support for the @uvmvermont people and partners using data science and digital humanities methods to better understand and harness the power of stories. Maybe this moment will register clearly on the @hedonometer! uvm.edu/news/story/uvm-earns…

To me, the most quintessential #dataviz of the last 25 years: number27.org/wefeelfine by @jjh_works Seamless & fluid ux, blending charts & other content, interesting data with live updates, personal stories (forest+trees), particles, sketchy rendering… (sadly offline… )

Btw the Hedonometer measuring Twitter sentiment from @uvmvermont’s @compstorylab is an essential tool. Check it out! hedonometer.org/timeseries/e…

Sentiment on Twitter dropped precipitously when verdict was announced, according to @compstorylab. Words like guilty and murder were offset by positive words like hope. “The sentiment dip would have been dramatically deeper if Chauvin was acquitted,” @ChrisDanforth told me.

Right. To be fair we’re all pretty bummed on Twitter - you can see that on @hedonometer. But as dark and gloomy as many of us might be, it’s a far cry from calling for, planning for and engaging in insurrection. I’m only maladapting by eating too many cinnamon rolls, y’know?
The storming of the US Capitol by Trump supporters yesterday led to the third saddest day in English Twitter’s history. hedonometer.org/timeseries/e…
