Remember when everyone shot C-log and S-log and never even touched colour and called it cinematic.

Let’s see everyone’s network setups. I’ll start… mine is weak but it’s a start. I use to be just an ISP modem guy.
Our house in Toronto had this fancy glassed wine cellar, but we are not big wine drinkers. Anyways, it had good climate control so here is my rack cellar.

We forgot what true color science is and I’ve never been so excited to shoot with my iPhone again. Thank you @rianjohnson.
So I recently badgered my cinematographer @steveyedlin into making my ideal iPhone still camera app. It shoots RAW, bypasses the iPhone's look processing and instead uses the same image processing we use on our movies. apps.apple.com/app/apple-sto…

Apples hidden app privacy report! Off by default but just turned it on and will see what come back from the report now especially with the use of AI in the background.

I think what @rianjohnson has done is perfect timing in the world of AI imagery. Tech has pushed colour, and processing to a place that our own eye doesn’t see. We see real shadows, and the world isn’t overly saturated. We’ve been exposed far too long that now seeing imagery that feels natural and not overly processed is cutting through the visual noise on our algorithms that our brains have been hooked on. I’ve never felt so alive looking at the images people are sharing. It feels grounded, and human.

A term that has come up a few times... Frankensteined contract. @dannyjpatterson behind the creative 👏
Spellbook can review any contract. Even the scary ones. Happy Halloween to every lawyer currently dealing with a Frankensteined contract.

Serious question: does the new touch MacBook Pro come with a polish cloth?
MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Almost every demo I’ve seen has some amount of mis-touches and slight fumbles because at the end of the day this is still a computer designed to be used with a keyboard and a trackpad/mouse, but… there’s no denying it’s responsive and smooth as hell Pro tip: the nanotexture version is way softer/smoother to the touch than the glossy, which drags a bit under your finger. Both do a surprisingly good job hiding fingerprints You know what the most underrated difference to me is? The lighter weight. I swear. The 16-inch weighs almost a pound less than the non-touch version. Very into that Full video impressions coming soon

Overnight, Spirit Halloween opened 1,500+ stores across the US and Canada. How? Well, a scarily efficient contract operation 🎃

Soon content takes me back to peak VICE / Motherboard days. More of this @patrickmcguire and team.
We've been on the road reporting on how small towns in America are being affected by AI. From a town with a single Flock camera in Upstate NY... to a Mormon community of 4,000 in Utah bracing for the world's biggest data center. Here's a preview of what's coming up from Soon.

I’d pay for some kind of A24 subscription just to wait for their next film vs. Netflix always on.
If I were Netflix, I would hire whoever is greenlighting and acquiring films at A24. Talk about a studio that knows how to keep budgets under control, generate buzz, and get multiple films into the awards conversation every single year.

Favorite part of our board meeting: case study of a Fortune 100 who we are saving $21m in legal fees. In-house autonomous legal beats AI law firms, because it can connect much deeper into the connective tissue of a company: Finance systems, HR systems, and beyond.
Spellbook is saving a Fortune 100 company $21 m in outside counsel legal fees with autonomous contracting. Want to save wasted $$$ on legal costs instead of buying software? spellbook.com/reduce-outside…

$5.5M opening day of ‘You Can See Everything’ 👏 Big congrats to David Bolan the mastermind behind the camera. I had the pleasure to do some verite doc work with him in the Florida Keys for Shopify and it was incredible to watch him shape and craft a shot with minimal tools.
