The scurrilous claims about @IlhanMN have never had any basis in fact or evidence. Omar has lived in the US for more than 30 years: longer than Melania Trump, or Sebastian Gorka, or Steve Hilton, or countless GOP luminaries. She's lived in the US since she was 13. She's been a US citizen for more than 25 years.
This has as much to do with immigration enforcement as the Trump/Rubio policy of deporting people for the crime of criticizing Israel: which is to say, none at all. It's all about feeding the MAGA base something to excite them and, especially, persecuting one of the most vocal critics of Trump and Israel.

I'm not a Republican, and there are things I do not like about the state of the party. But we are at a place where my alternative is to allow Communists to gain power. I would sup with devils far worse than Donald Trump has ever been to prevent that.

What’s happened the past decade is we’ve had the worst libertarian degradations foisted upon us (drugs, gambling, suicide, prostitution) while free speech norms and privacy have been swept away.
At some point libertarians have to own up to how impotent they’ve been in protecting the things that are the most important and how corrosive their permissive impulses have been for society. I’m not holding my breath though because their ideology explicitly precludes them from taking responsibility for any of the non-economic consequences of what they favor.
