With one round in West remaining, this is my attempt at the @NBL1 National Rankings for the men. Compared 100+ players who have changed conference or NBL over past 3 years to establish conference strengths. hoopsDB rating = Est margin per 100 poss against the avg NBL1 team

Please spread the word...without cameras, the play-by-play (with shot locations) is the golden key to better analysis in basketball. 🔑 The box score tells what happened, but an accurate play-by-play unlocks so many secrets about how it all happened. 🔐 #ProtectThePBP

To put some numbers on Pepper's run...just six TEAMS in the West are making more 3s a game than Pepper. He is 28/57 on 3P thru 3 games and his team makes 22.3 threes a game at 45%. Next highest in West is 12.3. Highest in South 11.5, East 13.0, Central 12.2.
#NBL1 🏀EASTER #NBL1WEST RECAP⛹️⛹️‍♂️ @Elijah_pepper12 continued his @NBL1 tear not seen since 'Snoopy' Graham in 1990 on Easter Thursday @NBL1_West of thrilling wins for men's Senators and Flames, and women's Redbacks on a huge Anneli Maley performance. nbl1.com.au/news/west-recap-…

A lot of talk recently about the high @NBL scoring since the November FIBA break, so I had a deeper look. The samples are still small (22 games post-FIBA compared to 60 before), but the effects are significant. A thread...🧵 #NBL25

Who will make the finals of @NBL1 South Men? Any team on 13 wins will get in, so KNX, KLR, DAN, HOB make playoffs if they win. If DAN and/or HOB lose, 12 wins can make it. I've checked all the mini-ladders for the 12-win scenarios and (pretty sure) the shaded teams get in.

1/ Ratings against all teams. 2/ Ratings vs top 6 teams. Three distinct tiers (with SEM clinging to tier 2) if you look at results vs top 6 teams. #NBL24

Hearing @Herbiehoops talk about SPIRs took me right back to my own time at Deakin, sitting front row and watching the passion that David Parkin had for coaching and teaching. So much fun! basketballimmersion.com/the-…

Important podcast about commotio cordis, which is the heart going into fibrillation when the rib cage strikes it at a particular point in the pumping cycle. Coaches should be aware as part of first-aid training. We saw it happen live with Damar Hamlin. espn.com/radio/play?id=37263…

SYD and NZB are both great defensive teams in #NBL23. They are the two best shooting teams on offense but also on defense. Opposing teams shoot bad against SYD and NZB. The big difference is in FTs - SYD get there, NZB allow teams to get there. Early foul calls will be critical.

NZB are hiding behind TAS and MEL in the graphic - they rely on the 3P shot much more than SYD (42% of all shots are from 3 compared to 37%). NZB will force teams into tough, contested shots while SYD will force teams into the shots that they want them to take. More on that...

SYD are a centrefield team on D and don't send many to the boards on O. About the same ORB% as their opponents (27%). NZB are more active on the O boards (30%), but their opponents are a little less active (28%). Will be interesting to see who wins this battle in Game 1.
