Here is a summary thread of the data I hand-tracked watching all 7 games of the 1994 NBA Finals
In an absolute slugfest of a series where neither team managed a single double-digit victory, Hakeem Olajuwon was the difference, bottling up both pick and rolls and the paint on defense while providing his team a reliable offensive floor.

Bill Russell has the highest FG% in an NBA Finals series (30 FGA Minimum)
1965 NBA Finals
18.0 PPG
25.0 RPG
6.0 APG
70.2 FG% (9.4 FGA)
57.5 FT% (8.0 FTA)
68.9 TS%
Often criticized for his poor FG%, it is ironic that Russell has the highest FG% among scorers with 9.0+ PPG.
Yaxel's start gets even more interesting when you look at how Golden State is using him
High usage, relatively high on-ball% for a rookie, a smattering of PnR initiation (even if he hasn't been effiicent there yet), and 38% of his buckets are unassisted. That's a pretty significant amount of creation responsibility for a rookie and he's still scoring at +7.4 rTS%
He's been devastating as a spot up scorer (on low volume), is finishing well at the rim (+5.5 rRim fg%) and shooting well from 3 (+6.2 r3P%)
He's finishing nicely and he's already being trusted to start testing his creation

OGs BROUGHT THE HEAT TO 🏆 NIGHT.
STEPH: 31p, 8 threes, insane handle
KD: 28p, unreal poster
LEBRON: 20p, 9r, 8a, clutch putback
KYRIE: 35p (26 in 2H), 9a
KLAY: 25p, 7 threes
All these legends were HOOPIN' to open the 2026 @emirates NBA Cup last night!
How bout a +16 on court nrtg in 32 mpg for an undefeated team? Is that okay to gush about?
The guy is helping his team win. Obviously his shooting will improve, but shooting well and playing winning ball arent synonymous
Bill Russell in 1969 at age 35 still had enormous impact.
Led the Celtics to the #1 defense and -6.4 rDRtg.
Held Elvin Hayes -4.2 ppg and -4.1% relative to his averages in the RS.
Held Walt Bellamy +2.0 ppg and -9.0% relative to his averages in the RS.
Held Nate Thurmond -4.7 ppg and -7.0% relative to his averages in the RS.
Held Willis Reed -3.9 ppg and -4.8% relative to his averages in the RS and +2.9 ppg and -1.2% relative to his averages in the PS.
Held Wilt Chamberlain -4.2 ppg and -7.6% relative to his averages in the RS and -8.8 ppg and -8.3% relative to his averages in the Finals.
Coached the team.
Won all 3 series in the playoffs without home court advantage beating very strong Knicks and Lakers teams.
Won his 11th championship.
#GOAT #underrated
Why I think 2010 (pre elbow injury and “decision”) was the very best version of LeBron James - and has a case as the greatest season ever played
Note: Not THE hill I’d die on, per-say. But an argument that should have a lot more credence than it gets. Let me explain why 🧵
