Putting @GMJustinNelson in charge is the smartest thing WNBL 2.0 could have done. Excited to see what comes next with Justin at the helm.
We are thrilled to announce the leadership appointments of experienced sporting administrator, Justin Nelson as Chief WNBL Operations Officer, along with basketball legend Lauren Jackson AO OLY as Chief Strategy and Basketball Partnerships Officer.
This announcement marks an exciting move to strengthen the league’s leadership as it sharpens its focus on operational excellence, delivery, and growth ahead of the 2026/27 season.

I can only think of two other occasions where a first year WNBL coach was fired mid season. I wonder what’s going on in Adelaide 🤔
Bombshell news out of the Adelaide Lightning tonight, with the club parting ways with head coach Kerryn Mitchell. Comes on the eve of their clash with Townsville, and three days after a stunning OT win over Geelong. @9NewsAdel
What kind of question is this? Of course he will! 🧐
After leading Bendigo to historic success, can Mark Alabakov turn Sandringham into a true contender?

You can’t make this up 😂
Fouled out in 9 minutes on Thursday, and went at the refs how many times, but the @wnbl is just going to ignore that…

After her MONSTER double-double performance against Adelaide, Charli Collier takes home the Cygnett Player of the Round! 🔥
27 pts & 22 rebounds is HUGE!
#WeAreWNBL
So we’re just ignoring Collier’s performance and carry on from Thursday night then?!

There were some HUGE performances in Round 7 🥵
Presenting the @footlocker Team of the Week! 👊

Hey @adellightning, I heard you’re looking for a head coach. The @TheCountofHoops has more than 200 games of WNBL coaching experience and knows how to win….

I can’t get behind a list that doesn’t acknowledge Reggie Days or Elena Mineva in some way.
With the season now just 48 days away, rosters are close to being finalised and we will have our newest batch of imports joining the WNBL.
This got us thinking, who has been the best import the WNBL has ever seen?
Did we get it right?

Ok, Sandringham, I see you 👀
A huge congrats to @TheCountofHoops on his appointment to the Sabres. I’m already on the bandwagon, #BleedOrange.

Appreciate I have been (and still am) out of the country and may be out of the loop, but where is the @WNBL fixture for the 2024/25 season?!
Last season’s fixture was released on 12 July.

Can’t miss all the promotion of the @WNBA All Star game when arriving at Sky Harbour.
Absolutely loved seeing this as an Australian that’s come to town to catch the game (and some Mercury games after the Olympic break).
Great work @PhoenixMercury 👏🏻

We’re considering a general step back so keen to hear from you all whether or not we’re required any more
Was thinking of stepping aside from the WNBL tracker this offseason. Looking at the state of the list on the league's website, I think my work is still needed...
Thoughts WNBL fans?
The SEG group won't own the Perth Lynx but will play a major role in their day to day operations.
Thanks for the chat @stevennelkovski
Not one mention of the Melbourne Boomers in this announcement or the WNBL website in general.
Glossing over the loss of a team that has been in the competition for 40 years… it’s such a sad state of affairs.
The WNBL is on a road to no where under BA.
The WNBL are pleased to announce that Geelong United Basketball have been awarded a license to enter the League commencing this coming 2024-25 season playing at Geelong Arena.
