I think the most incredible part of all of this is that Phil, at times despite himself, somehow just pitted the commissioner of a professional sports league against the benefactor of a sovereign wealth fund, got them to agree on a multi-billion (?) dollar deal, walked away with $200M himself and also nearly won the Masters in the middle of it all.
He certainly could not have envisioned it playing out like it did, and burned some bridges he may never rebuild, but it's undeniable that he reshaped the future of golf in a very substantial way.

It’s bad news that Phil Mickelson isn’t playing in the PGA Championship. No matter what else you think about the PGA Tour, LIV, Phil or anything else, it’s a bummer that he won’t be there to defend the defining win of his late career. Nobody wins here.

It really sucks that one of the most historic wins in golf happened a year ago and it’s just been downplayed so much. Should’ve been a ceremonial victory lap next week.

How tough was it to catch Tiger as world number 1?
Scottie Scheffler's OWGR points average this week is 10.06, putting him comfortably in the no. 1 spot.
Phil Mickelson had 77 different weeks from 2000-2008 where his average points number was higher than Scottie's is this week.
