👻 Alex is back with the wrong server
He ran docker compose down to stop the test app. Production flatlined. Staging was alive and well.
He'd been on prod-01 the whole time.
Friendly reminder: read the hostname before you hit Enter.
#Docker #Sysadmin
For a less cursed ending, give prod and staging different prompt colors. Before anything destructive, run hostname and docker context show: your terminal may be talking to a remote Docker daemon.
Here's what docker compose down stops and removes:

Your Kubernetes API doesn't need a public IP
You can now create a Hostman cluster with no public IP on the control plane and manage it over the private network.
Turn off Public IP when you create the cluster. You can't change it on an existing cluster yet.
Working from a laptop? Set up a bastion host: a cloud server with a public IP on the cluster's private network. SSH into it and run kubectl from there.
Here's the setup:

👻 Boo. Your server's empty.
A Halloween story: after 3 hours of searching, Alex found final_backup.zip. It contained one file: logo.png.
Give your server a less cursed ending: schedule backups in Hostman, choose how many copies to keep, and test recovery before you need it.
Backups cost $0.07 per GB of disk size. To check one, mount it read-only and pull out a single file. If things go really wrong, restore the whole disk.

Your prod Compose file can keep its name.
App Platform now deploys the Dockerfile or Compose file at the path you give it, relative to the repo root. Keep docker-compose.dev.yml and docker-compose.prod.yml side by side, or move them into a subfolder.
Also new: App Platform logs now record domain changes, app stops, and container restarts. Next time someone asks what changed, check there first.
Here's how to set your Compose file path:

One less API key to copy around.
The AI Connector in Hostman Managed Kubernetes creates the key and stores it as a Secret in the namespaces you pick. Regenerate it, and your manifests stay the same. Pods read it as an env var or a mounted file.

Didn't see your framework on App Platform? Look again.
Astro, TanStack Start, Solid, SolidStart, Remix, and SvelteKit are now on the list. All 6 deploy as frontend apps, and all but Solid can also run with SSR.
🚨 Patch PHP today 🚨
2 critical bugs (CVSS 9.2) can let an attacker run code on your server without logging in. PHP-FPM, mod_php, php-cgi, FrankenPHP and LiteSpeed are all affected. The PHP team rates mod_php as the highest risk.
CVE-2026-109618, CVE-2026-109619
Fixed releases: 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35. Distros got the patches in advance, so check for your vendor's security update. Backported packages may keep the old version number. Restart PHP-FPM or Apache after updating.
If you can’t update immediately, PHP’s advisory lists temporary mitigations: php.net/archive/2026.php#202…
Pick the model that steps in when another fails.
Attach up to 2 fallback models to a Hostman AI Gateway key. If the primary model errors out or times out, the gateway tries them in order. The failed attempt is free.
A little more context can change the price of the whole request.
Some models in Hostman use long-context pricing once the input exceeds a set threshold. That pricing applies to the entire request, including the response—not just the tokens above the threshold.
“Can you put yesterday’s version back on staging?”
App Platform now has a deployment selector for staging environments. Redeploy a commit from the deployment history or cancel a deployment in progress.
Your project didn’t change. You just opened a new chat.
AI Agents can now remember your preferences and projects across chats. Review or edit saved facts, or ask the agent to forget them.
Memory is off by default. Not available in the website widget.
Six more backend frameworks in Hostman App Platform:
• Go: Echo, Fiber
• Python: aiohttp, Tornado
• Java: Quarkus, Micronaut
Connect your repo and App Platform detects the framework and runtime version. You can adjust both before deploying.
