NEW: How Michigan congressman Jack Bergman came to live in a campaign donor's Washington, D.C. home
Earlier this year, the donor sold home on a land contract to Bergman’s daughter in a sell-financed deal with no principal due until 2033.
Bergman has continued to claim taxpayer reimbursement since his daughter bought the Capitol Hill rowhouse for the same price the donor paid for it four years ago.

“The conflict in Iran has run up the price of gas and diesel, and this all needs to end,” Sen. Jim Risch told me. “Once the conflict is over, it’s going to come down rather quickly.”
His opponent, Todd Achilles, told me Risch should do more to end it.

House lawmakers need a raise, but know it would look bad. But a recent expense program is giving most members an average of a 10% bump.

More Americans believe we’ll colonize the moon before we fix K-12 education. This is a policy problem.
We have been building a solution that’s already trusted by many of the Fortune 500 as well as 1/3 of federal and state elected officials in the United States.
Organizations are more impacted by policy than by financial markets. Yet financial markets have been real-time for decades, and policy markets are still nearly impossible to follow.
@StateAffairsUS has raised over $70M from @rabois, @khoslaventures, @foundersfund and others to fix that.
We are creating the world’s first real-time knowledge graph for policy and regulatory markets. This platform is foundationally built on non-partisan journalism and the collection of on-the-ground data that isn’t digitally accessible.
In the future, we believe every executive will watch policy markets the way they watch financial markets. Instead of reacting to regulation, they’ll navigate it proactively.
Policy should iterate at the speed of our most innovative industries.

State legislative candidates are starting to embrace AI regulation on the campaign trail, a shift from wonky legislative debates to populist stump speech material that shows how focused the public is on AI, great story from @AustinJ_Reports - pluribusnews.com/news-and-ev…

Today we're announcing $70M to build the intelligence infrastructure for the policy and regulatory economy and our story is featured in @nypost.
State Affairs is the AI platform for policy and regulation, already trusted by one-third of the nation's elected officials and by government affairs and legal teams across the Fortune 1000.
Policy gets made in statehouses long before it reaches Washington. Thousands of bills, hearings, and regulations moving across 50 states at once. Our edge is exclusive journalism and original data gathering. We have one of the largest statehouse newsrooms in the country, 2,000+ original stories a month, and on the ground data gathers that both power our AI with signals no one else has.

Bergman has endorsed clients of his top aides’ private political consulting biz.
His office also structured the aides’ taxpayer-funded pay so that they can avoid both financial disclosures about the side business and House rules that limit income from outside work

But here's the thing.
This isn't just one party, just Congress, not even just politicians. This story is about something festering in America...

The one and only @markzbarabak is out with a great piece about my Harry Reid bio in which he captures both the spirit of the man I wrote about and the sometimes-contentious nature of our relationship.
NEW: Harry Reid went years refusing to talk to @RalstonReports, Nevada’s premiere political journalist.
He tried multiple times to get Ralston fired, before finally succeeding.
But when it came time to write his biography, guess who Reid turned to.
