T-Mobile spent five years trying to get rid of the exact spectrum Elon just called "the last critical piece" of complete phone coverage in America. This 800 MHz block is Sprint's old Nextel spectrum, the stuff that powered push-to-talk walkie-talkie phones in 2004. The DOJ forced T-Mobile to divest it as a condition of the $26 billion Sprint merger. Dish had first rights at $3.59 billion and walked away because it couldn't raise the money. T-Mobile finally offloaded it to an investment firm called Grain Management last year for $2.9 billion plus a spectrum swap. Grain's original plan was selling it to utilities for private networks. Fourteen months later, SpaceX buys the whole portfolio, and shares of the carriers who passed on it fall as much as 8% in a single afternoon. Here's why it matters so much. Starlink's satellite signal at 2 GHz can reach your phone outdoors, but it dies at the first wall. 800 MHz penetrates buildings. Most phones already have the band built in. So satellites handle the open sky, this low-band layer handles indoors, and suddenly Starlink Mobile covers everywhere a normal carrier does without the tower network. Stack the moves. $17 billion for EchoStar's 50 MHz of 2 GHz spectrum. FCC approval for 15,000 Gen2 satellites this week. Now the low-band coverage layer. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile paid $81 billion in a single auction for C-band spectrum in 2021, then spent years and tens of billions more deploying it on towers. SpaceX assembled a nationwide carrier out of a distressed-asset sale, a forced divestiture castoff, and rockets it already owns. The walkie-talkie spectrum from 2004 ended up being the piece that lets satellites replace cell towers. Nobody who touched it for twenty years saw that coming.
We announced an agreement to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum license portfolio that will pave the way for @Starlink to become a major mobile carrier in the US. With this new spectrum and our Gen2 constellation, Starlink Mobile can ensure Americans have access to high-speed mobile broadband no matter where they are → spacex.com/updates#starlink-…

New filing for NHL hockey ETFs from VolShares, which will track the performance of 32 dif teams (eg the Boston Bruins ETF) which will be based on how the team does (eg wins, losses in reg season and playoffs) using a special team index calc that has futures contract on it. Wow. Good catch from Jeff who has some more deets below incl link to filing..
Wild, wild stuff: Filing to register 32 ETFs tied to each NHL franchise. Each ETF will invest in futures contracts tied to the CME FSPI index for the team concerned. The index measures 'cumulative team performance'. Example description shown. sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/…

More than a year ago, the House passed the Clarity Act. There’s been progress since — thousands of hours of bipartisan negotiations took place at the staff and Member levels. The Senate Committees on Banking and Agriculture advanced their respective titles. And Senate Republicans produced a floor-ready product that, as I type this, is waiting for a vote. It’s disappointing — but not surprising — that Senate Democrats are choosing politics on the cusp of a major victory for American leadership. Find another instance in history where Congress, when given the choice, opted to push an industry out of the United States rather than smartly regulate it. American Exceptionalism was once a bipartisan goal; if Clarity fails, I have serious doubts. These same Democrats — many of whom have taken millions of dollars from the crypto industry — proclaim that Clarity lacks safeguards for consumers and falls short in countering illicit finance. Nothing could be further from the truth. Titles II and III materially uplift regulatory and compliance obligations for digital asset intermediaries, placing them on similar footing with traditional financial institutions. The Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act — which Washington lobbyists have spun up as a boogeyman for certain groups of prosecutors and law enforcement — does nothing other than codify longstanding Treasury Department policy that’s remained consistent across Administrations: non-custodial builders and developers are not, and have never been, subject to registration obligations under the Bank Secrecy Act. And at this point, major law enforcement trades that once opposed the bill, including the Fraternal Order of Police, have now endorsed it. The Senate needs to vote NOW on this landmark legislation. The truth is that Senate Democrats are afraid to advance the Clarity Act as they fear Senator Warren and the “Anti-Crypto Army” she once promised to build. In the days ahead, Leader Thune will put this theory to the test. Will Senate Democrats be on the side of American Exceptionalism, or will they opt to cede American leadership of a global industry for fear of the bespectacled squirrel’s Left flank? America will lead or America won’t. It’s not more complicated than that. I believe Satoshi once said it best: “If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry.”

🇺🇸 Remember the U.S. doesn’t have a sovereign wealth fund. Americans pay for the wars. Chevron, Cheniere Energy, Exxon, Golden Pass, etc. get the sales and profits. The price of your goods goes up. Your share of the national debt goes up. Socializing the costs. Privatizing the gains. The financial-industrial complex thanks you for your service. You will own nothing and be happy.
🇨🇳🇮🇷🇺🇸🇶🇦 Reuters suggests Washington may release around $6 billion in frozen Iranian oil revenues held in Qatar and other foreign banks. Iran is reportedly pushing for access to much larger sums, with total frozen assets potentially exceeding $100 billion worldwide. Anybody else remember when Jordan Peterson asked Netanyahu to “give the Palestinians hell” and blamed Biden for releasing $6 billion to Iran? 🦗 Now the land is ready to build new LNG pipelines. Remember my comments in week one. Those who were negotiating a deal before the war are the ones still negotiating a deal today. They were not killed. This war was part of the negotiations. Iran’s pragmatists accepted the ceasefire, honored it, and came to the table ready to negotiate, likely trading the resistance axis for a seat at that table. The Gulf states absorbed the hits and immediately shifted to calculating reconstruction terms, renegotiating old contracts, funding new security frameworks, while Saudi Arabia collected record oil premiums throughout the war. The damage wasn’t just destruction, it became a business opportunity. Pakistan repositioned itself from a debt-stricken, unstable state into a central broker of one of the most consequential ceasefires, backed by China. October 7 was meant to happen, and world leaders knew it was coming. It was funded through Qatari banks, and Hamas had an office in Qatar. Qatar is a major U.S. ally, but its LNG future is tied to China, now its largest buyer, locking in long-term supply for decades. The GCC had their U.S. bases targeted so a new world order could be renegotiated, alongside a 70% stake in Golden Pass, a major beneficiary of LNG contracts in Texas, USA. This wasn’t Trump’s plan. This was China’s plan as part of the “Trade War”. Securing energy, brokering influence, and anchoring the next phase of the global order through long-term LNG contracts. This was a managed transition. Trump was funded by Affinity Partners, funded by the Gulf Sovereign Wealth Funds, managed by Jared Kushner (who is negotiating all deals), as well as receiving a Boeing aircraft from Qatar. And I know you may find it hard to believe, but Israel is the major loser. Trump took money from everybody. And that was his goal. The financial industrial complex got new energy contracts and likely got insider information before every social media post. The military industrial complex got a stimulus cheque from one trillion to a trillion and a half. The technical industrial complex will get QE stimulus for their AI & Data centre’s after the recession. The big print will end the dollar as world reserve currency. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz ends the Breton Woods agreement if it opens with a toll. Follow the money. 💰

Evening update: There is now just 1 US BIN left on eBay for under $10 (you can get one around $7 from Canada) Everything in the $2-$5 range is getting bought the second it’s posted. The auction ending soonest is sitting at $12.50 (plus shipping)
You only need about 20% of a cards actively traded population to start impacting price. There are currently 226 listed on eBay. I just bought another. This might be easier then I thought.

At 6:16 left in the game, Pryce Sandfort made a 3 to take the lead against Iowa. The TBS broadcast showed Matt Rhule in the crowd. After said basket, Nebraska went on a 5 minute and 9 second scoring drought and got outscored 15-6 for the rest of the game.
