The world is hard on women who are honest and responsible. Of course, it’s easy and normal to feel a little demoralized when evil whores are rewarded for inflicting themselves on people and tormenting them in the guise of being “earnest and genuine.” But it’s not really “the world,” it’s you. If your sense of honor prevents you from advertising to others, it’s not their fault for failing to notice. That’s the nature of responsibility and why women avoid it.
I think the world is far too hard on women who are earnest and genuine, and not hard enough on (or even able to identify) women who are legitimate dark triad psychopaths. When a group is infantilized, mythologized, or otherwise denied full agency, our moral standards for them become distorted. We excuse what should be condemned, and condemn what shouldn’t. Dehumanization doesn’t just produce harsher judgments, it also creates strange blind spots. And bad people always know how to take advantage of their own dehumanization.
