Today, we begin an important national conversation about
an opportunity to imagine the country we want to build for ourselves, our children and generations to come.
It was anchored on three pillars โ ๐๐๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐, ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฅโ supported by key foundations including infrastructure, science, technology and innovation, human capital, security and institutional reforms. Through successive five-year Medium-Term Plans, this vision has guided national development across different administrations.
For me, Vision 2030 also carries a special personal meaning. I had the privilege of spending ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ง๐ณ๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐จ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ, one of its flagship projects. I witnessed an ambitious idea on paper progressively take shape into a technology and innovation ecosystem โ a powerful reminder that ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ, ๐๐๐๐ค๐๐ ๐๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.
As 2030 approaches, our responsibility is now to look further ahead.
We have an opportunity to envision a Kenya that is globally competitive; powered by technology, innovation and knowledge; industrialised and export-oriented; food and energy secure; connected by world-class infrastructure; creating opportunities for every young Kenyan; and providing a high quality of life for all.
This conversation must belong to ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐ฒ๐๐ง๐ฌ โ our youth, professionals, farmers, entrepreneurs, academia, private sector, communities and leaders. We must think beyond todayโs challenges and electoral cycles and ask what decisions and investments we must make today to transform Kenya over the next generation.
May we use this opportunity to shape a nation we will be proud of โ and one in which future generations will look back with pride at the contribution our generation made.

Technopolis Development Authority was pleased to welcome Prof. Bitange Ndemo, @bantigito, a visionary champion of Kenyaโs digital transformation and smart city development, for an engagement focused on the journey and future of Konza Technopolis, Kenyaโs Flagship Smart City.
During the visit, Prof. Ndemo reflected on the significant milestones achieved in advancing the vision of Konza Technopolis and Kenyaโs Vision 2030, while sharing insights on how we can accelerate the realisation of the Technopolisโ founding vision and strengthen its contribution to Kenyaโs knowledge economy.
Discussions explored key areas including research and development (R&D), innovation, technology, smart city development, and opportunities for stronger collaboration to drive sustainable, technology-enabled growth.
As Kenyaโs Flagship Smart City, Konza Technopolis is designed as an innovation ecosystem where research, technology, enterprise, talent and smart infrastructure converge to create jobs, attract investment, support emerging industries and position Kenya as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
Prof. Ndemo holds a unique place in this journey, having served as the pioneer Principal Secretary during the early stages of Konza Technopolis' development. His continued interest, insights and support therefore hold particular significance as the vision continues to evolve.
Prof. Ndemo was accompanied by Dr. Yabo Wu, Lecturer/Assistant Professor at Nankai University, Zhou Enlai School of Government, further enriching the engagement with perspectives on international cooperation, research and knowledge exchange.
We are grateful for the continued interest and support from those who helped shape the vision from the beginning, and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead as we build Africaโs Silicon Savannah together.
The vision started with an idea. The milestones show how far the Smart City has come. The opportunity ahead is even bigger @Josekamanthe
