Kasese Catholic schools allow A-level girls to keep natural hair
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese, Rt Rev Francis Aquirinus Kibira, has directed Catholic-founded schools to allow female A-level students to grow and maintain their natural hair, in a departure from the longstanding practice of requiring all learners to keep short hair.
Ugandan schools have traditionally enforced strict grooming rules requiring both male and female students to keep their hair short. School administrators often justify the rules on grounds that maintaining different hairstyles can distract learners, consume time and money, and fuel competition and comparisons among students.
However, Bishop Kibira says allowing female students in advanced-level classes to keep their natural hair will help prepare them for university and other institutions of higher learning, where they have greater freedom to make personal choices.
He argues that A-level students are mature enough to make independent decisions, with teachers and other adults expected to guide them rather than impose unnecessary restrictions.

Today, CEO @RomeoNgarambe hosted a delegation from @BRDbank and the @WorldBankGroup to discuss the Rwanda Housing Finance Project Phase II (RHFP II), which is scheduled to commence in 2027 and will build on the achievements of the first phase.
CMA remains committed to working with BRD, the World Bank and government partners to strengthen the regulatory framework, market infrastructure and investor protection mechanisms required to support the project.
The initiative presents an opportunity to mobilise long-term domestic savings through the capital markets and expand access to affordable housing for more Rwandans.

Dear Stacey Abrams,
This moment is dedicated to YOU.
Before Keisha Lance Bottoms made history as the first Black woman elected governor in America, you dared to show us that it was possible.
You ran when the road was uncertain. You stood tall when the outcome wasn’t what we’d hoped. And instead of allowing defeat to define your story, you continued the work of making sure our voices were heard.
Your courage, your grace, your commitment to voting rights, and your power to organize helped lay the groundwork for a Georgia that looks different today.
And while we celebrate this historic victory and the wave of change sweeping across the country, we cannot forget the women who helped make moments like this possible.
Stacey, we see you. We thank you. And we give you your flowers.

President Donald Trump picked up a call from @DashaBurns on POLITICO Elections Live and talked to us about the blue wave and how he’s willing to work with incoming congressional Democrats.

It’s more so Trump is incredibly accessible. There probably won’t be another president ever again where you think, let’s call him and see if he picks up and he actually picks up.

Is AI making NGO and agency presentations look the same? Here is a personal observation from my boardroom interactions.
I have noticed that a good number of NGO communications teams and (some) marketing agencies are relying on AI-generated presentations religiously. They do look impressive (no doubt) but lack originality, lack localisation, and (at worst) lack strategic thinking.
Tools like Claude AI are increasingly being used to develop reports and presentations. The problem isn't the AI itself … it's the growing reliance on similar templates, layouts and creative approaches. AI itself (most especially Claude) is still limited in giving options. Different organisations, different logos, different colours, yet almost identical presentations.
I have looked at 3 different presentations from 3 different organisations looking almost the same. Are we sacrificing brand identity for convenience? I am here wondering … what is the point of investing in brand guidelines if they are ignored when developing presentations?
Don’t get me wrong! AI is a valuable tool for research, content development and design support, but it should enhance creativity, not replace strategic thinking and brand consistency.
Imagine if every organisation's presentation looks the same, where is the differentiation? Email responses (especially from agencies) are also beginning to feel and look the same ...

Aurélie Royet-Gounin, French Ambassador to Rwanda, recalls that after serving in Kenya she deliberately applied for the Kigali posting.
“it’s a choice and you have to apply… you have to win over many very sharp concurrence… so it’s a bit of a fight and I’m happy I was chosen”
And describes her first year as “a whole new discovery” in which “you have to forget everything you know and just let yourself be surprised and be very, very open and candid,” adding that she is still learning a “very specific country” and the “Rwandan state of mind, which is very fascinating.” #RoyalFM #KigaliInTheMorning

Tororo Municipality MP @shyamtanna_ Jay Tanna, who told @Parliament_Ug he exports to Congo, said Congolese buyers "come with piles and piles of US dollars" and stagger their payments, because cash above US$10,000 attracts a handling charge.
He urged that bringing South Sudan and the DRC onto the regional payment system be a priority, saying it would "push our exports."

Interesting angle. Middle powers are making Africa a playing field.
All year, General Muhoozi kept saying Uganda should leave Somalia. Most dismissed it as social media noise. Somali sources tell a different story: the message wasn’t coming from Kampala, but from Abu Dhabi. UAE’s targets: Türkiye’s planned spaceport at Warsheikh and its oil exploration off the Somali coast. The plan: strip Somalia of its security shield before they’re built. Uganda’s exit is step one.

If the #FDLR is merely a pretext, as #Tshisekedi claims, why resist the very action that would remove that pretext? How does one relocate a pretext, and why complain about international pressure to dismantle an armed group you already committed in writing to neutralizing?
The FDLR is not an imaginary organization. Its origins, genocidal ideology, and continued activities in eastern DRC are well-documented. Neutralizing it is not a favor to Rwanda; it is a security obligation and an essential step toward lasting regional stability.

Rwanda's exclusion from AGOA is more psychological than material. The real loss lies in Rwandans entertaining Washington's list of justifications, internalizing its judgment as a legitimate measure of Rwanda's worth, instead of rallying around the flag. It's a sovereignty contest
