Google indexes everything on the internet. People spent 10 years optimizing their shit to be scraped by Google. If you shut out Google you go extinct. If you admit Google you get your legs swept by Gemini previews that satisfy the user without clicking on your link. Lose / Lose.
This is ultimately what's going to happen. AI companies commit widespread copyright infringement to run their models, and since there's clearly no legal protection coming anytime soon, websites are going to start locking the door for not only AI companies, but everyone.
The free internet is going to die as a result of AI and everything will be paywalled like cable television.

Mark Cuban says he showed a food CEO that ChatGPT could design a cheaper GLP-1-friendly alternative to his best-selling cookie in ~3 minutes (and the CEO had no idea AI could do it):

Never forget that, during the pandemic, Amazon saw INCREASED productivity, employee retention, and overall work satisfaction.
Jassy went so far as to go on CNBC and say Amazon is a remote first employer and how great it is!
It wasn’t until Seattle put the squeeze on Amazon’s office real estate that they completely reversed course which inevitably lead to incredible amounts of talent leaving, wild return to office mandates, and the company becoming a shell of itself.
