Some landlords can be frustr@ting
A few months ago, I shared how our landlady served us a quit notice because she wanted to renovate the house. Since then, everyone has been house hunting to avoid embarrassment.
Rent is no longer smiling. A manageable 3-bedroom flat now goes for ₦800k upwards, excluding other charges.
Interestingly, most of the houses we've inspected have also been served quit notices because their landlords want to renovate and increase rent. It seems Ibadan landlords have agreed on a new strategy!
Now, my neighbour found a house, paid for over two weeks, submitted their NIN and those of two guarantors as requested. After everything, the landlord asked for three days to review the agreement.
Three days became two weeks. No keys, no refund! The agent keeps giving them excuses and promising another 24 hours.
Meanwhile, their current rent expired on October 31, and our landlady is back. The pressure is real!
If you were in their shoes, what would you do?
But I heard that, you're entitled to stay additional 3 months after a quit notice. Although I doubt it. How true is it.

There was a time when Poland 🇵🇱 was accepting applications from Nigerians, but things have changed, and some of those opportunities are no longer available.
Make hay while the sun shines!
Let me share a story with you.
A client of mine started planning for Canada 🇨🇦 Express Entry at the beginning of this year.
She is a 24-year-old pharmacist.
Within five months, she completed her WES credential evaluation and wrote her IELTS General Training examination.
In June 2026, she entered the Express Entry pool, and within just a month, she received an ITA (Invitation to Apply).
Today, she is already in Canada 🇨🇦.
She didn’t waste time!
She couldn’t afford the study route, so she explored Express Entry instead.
The lesson here is simple:
1. Check your eligibility for different immigration pathways.
2. Don’t assume studying abroad is the only way to relocate.
3. Start preparing your documents early.
4. Improve your language test scores to increase your chances.
5. Take advantage of opportunities while you are eligible.
You don’t always need millions for international tuition fees before you can Japa.
Sometimes, what you need is the right information, proper planning, eligibility and good timing.
🇨🇦 Don’t just dream about relocating. Research your options and start preparing!
Understood, but that last statement of yours was unnecessary.
You can spend ₦10 million on your Japa plans, and it still might not work out as expected. Nothing in life is guaranteed.
Also, not every farmer in Nigeria has been attacked by bandits or had their farm destroyed. There are people who are farming successfully and making good money in this country.
Sometimes, you can promote your business without dragging Nigeria into it or making it look like nobody can succeed here.
People are doing well in Nigeria without relocating abroad. I am a living example. My business is doing well, and I am building my dreams right here in Nigeria.
Even my friends abroad know that Japa is not on my list of priorities.
Everybody has their own journey. If relocating is your dream, go for it. But don't make it seem as if staying in Nigeria means you have failed in life.
Success has no single destination. Some people will make it abroad, while others will build successful lives right here in Nigeria.

Japa is not by force, don’t bother going to Poland 🇵🇱 as a Nigerian , they won’t give you Visa or even admission.
With ₦10M, you can Japa to the following countries:
1) Slovakia 🇸🇰
2) Portugal 🇵🇹
3) Lithuania 🇱🇹
4) Russia 🇷🇺
5) Latvia 🇱🇻
6) Japan 🇯🇵
7) South Korea 🇰🇷
8) Brazil 🇧🇷
9) China 🇨🇳
All courses are taught in English. Besides if you learn their language, you’ll become bilingual which is a plus for you.
Most of these countries have 6 months short courses you use to learn their languages.
Language barrier isn’t an excuse.
You’re not afraid of investing your ₦10M in a farm where bandits will destroy one day.
From the approach you think less of it but the interior is amazing.

Someone said if given ₦100,000,000, he would use all the money to process his japa.
What kind of slavery mentality is that?
Anyway, nobody will give you that money to waste.
If a Nigerian citizen posts about the infrastructure and development of our country, some of you will rush to the comment section with negativity.
You will travel to developed countries and acknowledge that providing good infrastructure is the government's responsibility, and that citizens don't need to praise the government for doing its job.
Yet, you are the same people who constantly talk down on Nigeria whenever someone highlights any positive development.
You cannot condemn Nigeria at every opportunity and then refuse to acknowledge progress when it happens.
Criticism is necessary, but so is fairness. We can hold our government accountable for its failures while still appreciating genuine progress.
Patriotism doesn't mean pretending everything is perfect. It means being honest enough to condemn what is wrong and acknowledge what is right.
