There could be a full-scale war tomorrow morning - and the nation shall cook itself in these politely named “bureaucratic impasses”.
This cabal of thugs, cheats, crooks, duffers and traitors are going to pummel the India story into pieces.
A depressing read on India’s critical minerals push/
India has auctioned 733 mineral blocks. Only 125 are actually producing. More than 600 mines are stuck in bureaucratic impasse.
At a time when the world is racing for critical minerals and China controls the supply chain, the average gap between winning a block and starting production in India is more than seven years.
The Centre’s own notes, prepared for the 6th national conference of chief secretaries, list the problems -fragmented land records, disputed land titles, no land banks set aside for compensatory afforestation, too many state cesses and levies, approvals that move from one department to the next, and weak rail cum port links for moving the ore.
Mining brings in over ₹1.9 lakh crore a year, and about 90% of it goes to the states. So the states lose the most when a block sits idle, and they are also the ones who can fix most of these bottlenecks: including digitising land records, creating land banks, setting up single-window approvals.
Critical minerals are now about energy security and strategic autonomy, not only revenue. A seven-year wait for a lithium or rare earth mine is something India cannot afford.

- Mutual Funds are not allowed to invest abroad
- Gold investing is being discouraged
- Now the LRS limit can be set to zero
- Bond yields are repressed and taxed punitively
If Indian savings are treated like this, then these are dark times indeed. In the long term, the negative wealth effect can severely damage consumption and the economy, especially because India is a service-led consumption economy.
Let's see....
So much achhe din that it feels like we're back to the 20th century.
RBI has proposed a new sub-limit on certain transactions under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS)
Proposed Limit: INR 50 lakhs ($55,000)
- Business travel and pilgrimages may be brought under the proposed Rs 50 lakh sub-limit.
- Education and Health care will be kept outside the limit.
These are part of measures to curb dollar outflows and support foreign exchange reserves.
Overall LRS limit is likely to be maintained at $250,000 per year.

Lumio Aura 5: The Complete Architectural Deep Dive
1) The Input Array
Six distinct pathways for ultimate connectivity: AUX (RCA), USB 2.0, HDMI 2.0 (with ARC/CEC), Optical, Coaxial, and Bluetooth v5.4. Whatever your source, the Lumio Aura 5 just works with it.
2) The HDMI Stage
A dedicated audio extractor isolates sound from the HDMI stream, and CEC support means your TV remote controls power and volume seamlessly. To save energy, the Aura 5 powers down completely when not in use and wakes up with your TV or projector.
3) The Main Brain
A unified audio processor handles every audio signal: the 24-bit/48 kHz DAC, real-time DSP, and amplifier control, all on a single chip. This removes the noisy signal handoffs between separate components that budget designs rely on. As acoustician Floyd Toole notes, today’s electronics can be essentially transparent, leaving the loudspeaker and the room as the real limits on what you hear.¹ Our job was to make sure the electronics stay out of the way so the speakers can do theirs.
4) Real-Time DSP & EQ
The built-in digital signal processor handles dynamic range compression with imperceptible latency. Switch between carefully tuned DGS EQ, Studio, Cinema, and Groove modes from the Minion OLED remote, or shape the sound yourself with the physical, chrome-plated Bass and Treble knobs. Real tone controls are there for a reason: recordings differ in spectral balance, and every room behaves differently, especially in the bass. Toole identifies this kind of adjustment as a legitimate part of getting good sound at home.¹
5) Power Architecture
A four-rail power system. The analog audio stage runs on a dedicated low-noise regulator, fully isolated from the switching electronics that power the digital brain. Less noise means the electronics stay transparent, so what you hear is the music, not the circuitry.
6) Smart Sequencing
The system holds the amplifier in shutdown during boot and releases it only once the audio path is fully initialized. That eliminates startup “thumps” and protects your speakers every time you turn them on. It’s a small detail that makes a real difference to your experience.
7) The Amplifier
Operating in stereo, the highly efficient amplifier turns power into sound rather than heat. In stereo, the soundstage is created mostly by the recording itself, through microphone placement, panning, and mixing.¹ So the Aura 5 doesn’t invent width or add artificial effects. It delivers the stereo image the artist and engineer created.
8) Acoustic Design
Housed in high-density, acoustic-grade wood cabinets with curved front baffles that reduce edge diffraction. Research shows that a flat, smooth frequency response is one of the strongest predictors of neutral, natural sound.¹ Broad cabinet and driver resonances can be audible at less than a decibel, so a dense, well-braced enclosure matters.¹ Each cabinet uses a true two-way passive crossover, splitting frequencies between a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a 4.5-inch aluminum diaphragm woofer, tuned for a smooth handoff on and off axis. In decades of double-blind tests in ordinary rooms, listeners have preferred speakers with wide, well-behaved dispersion.¹ The Aura 5 is designed to sound right across your room, not just in one sweet spot.
9) The End Result
105 dB of continuous output, with peaks up to 112 dB. No shared headroom, no simulated width, and in-room bass extension down to 35 Hz at 80 dB. The bass is tight and accurate rather than bloated and muddy, and that matters: bass quality and quantity account for roughly 30% of how listeners rate overall sound quality.¹ As Toole puts it, the “best” sound is often the “least bad” sound,¹ and every stage of the Aura 5 is built to strip away coloration so only the recording remains.
Lumio
Tech that sparks Joy.

Telangana achieved the highest economic growth in India from 2014 to 2023 because the BRS government took great care to address water and power shortages. However, Telangana is now back to square one, facing water and power shortages under the Congress government.
1/5: Hyderabad is facing an acute drinking water shortage. More than 330 of Telangana’s 600-plus mandals are drought-hit; only around 500 of its 6,000-plus lakes have water.
2/5: Tanker bookings in Hyderabad have surged to between 6,000 & 8,000 a day. In several areas on the city’s outskirts, drinking water is being supplied once every 3-4 days.
3/5: In a first-of-its-kind initiative for Hyderabad, the water board will launch green tanker services from 1 Nov to promote reuse of treated wastewater for non-drinking purposes.
4/5: State govt has announced fines for misuse of drinking water. First-time offenders will face fine of Rs 1,000; overflowing overhead tanks to attract penalty too.
5/5 What has caused the water crisis in Hyderabad & how did it get so bad? How are residents doing their bit to save water?

Yeah. Finmin has really screwed up, and the govt is screwing up too.
What you're also seeing as a citizen is:
1. Corruption all around and increasing power of a few entities.
2. Party in power cares only for election results, not national interest
3. Extractive taxation policies and increasing complexity in doing business.
4. Zero accountability among ministers and bureaucrats.
5. Massive uncertainty in and irrationality of govt policies.
They've gone full UPA2 on us.
Additionally given the geopolitical environment, businesses are not focusing on capex. This quarters earnings and forecasts are going to point towards a dire scenario

Simple problem to fix - and suddenly Indian cities will stop looking so bad at the ground level.
You can add traffic and air pollution to the wish list of problems to fix, but that may take time.
Pavements can literally be fixed in a few months.

The matter subsequently surfaced before another bench without Kaul being consulted. Justice Kaul significantally added that former CJI Chandrachud also advised him to find a “middle path”.

I have taken this up repeatedly with the @chandigarh_admn but I am increasingly becoming convinced that their is a deep vested interest within or outside the @chandigarh_admn that has driven and continues to drive this inane and imbecile decision to suspend the licenses of the other mobility aggregators in Chandigarh.
@StartusharMr
CHANDIGARH CAB CRISIS: UT admins suspended Ola, Uber, Rapido & InDrive licences, leaving Bharat Taxi as the only major option and both passengers and drivers are facing harassment.
Passengers report drivers accepting app bookings then cancelling and demanding inflated cash fares, with no real choice left. Short rides that once cost ~₹100 are now quoted at ₹175-200 or higher on Bharat Taxi, with people calling the rates “daylight robbery.”
Availability is poor, waits are longer, and many feel forced to pay whatever is demanded.
Drivers are also under pressure. Authorities have challaned/impounded hundreds of vehicles (915 reported, ₹91.5 lakh in fines), with STA teams posing as customers to catch those still using suspended apps. Drivers are resorting to workarounds while earnings drop amid the monopoly.
A crackdown meant to fix problems has created a single-platform market where both sides say they’re being squeezed.

But, don't expect government to admit its failure.
Rather of acknowledging that it overplayed its hand, it will keep piling on “one last tweak” to fix unintended consequences.
Each intervention creates new distortions, which demand yet another intervention.
A few years from now, we may even have an Ethanol Ministry to keep track of this ever-growing web of distortions, and showcase it as a testament to policy success.

What Indians need to realize right now is that since last year, it has become fundamentally impossible for China to continue exporting key technologies, equipment, and raw materials to India without restrictions as it did in the past.
Prior to this shift, China had never even considered imposing such export restrictions on India, because from Beijing's perspective, China's primary adversary is the United States. India was viewed as a potential ally, not a potential threat. As long as India maintained a friendly dialogue, it could reap unrestricted benefits from China’s economic and technological growth. What truly bewildered the Chinese people, however, was that India not only took the initiative to aggressively reduce its reliance on Chinese supply chains in search of alternatives, but also proudly beat the drums to advertise its potential threat to China—as if terrified that China might fail to notice.
Now, India's self-fulfilling fears have become reality. Frankly, I have never witnessed a country act with such sheer foolishness
The full picture on Chinese export controls is sharper than just TBMs alone.
The licence rule applies to exports to “sensitive countries and regions in dispute with China.”
The list also covers walking excavators and plateau shotcrete machines used above 3,000 metres.Basically the equipment that builds roads and tunnels as part of India's massive infrastructure buildout in Himalayas.
Beijing has also put controls on drone autopilots and engines, and last week floated a draft to restrict 40+ technologies, including next-gen solar manufacturing.
Every sector where India is trying to cut dependence on China is now a chokepoint.
Just need to face it and build it here, and build it fast. via @businessline
