Our rent just went up. Not terrible but we're looking to fundraise a bit 😬
Anyone want to put on a benefit gig, reading, event etc for us just to help us out?
We would be appreciative of your support and can help publicise!

Robert Stolz’s translation of Tosaka Jun’s The Japanese Ideology. Jun was the most important Marxist during Japan’s fascist period (who shared a fate with Gramsci). His is a theory of ideological change that shows how liberalism becomes fascism without breaking from itself.

"Capital is a social process instigated in the world, not in the mind [...] even as it generates appearances that are registered in, and mediated by, the embodied consciousness of its bearers" -- Bev Best
(her work is so great for thinking through materialism/idealism dynamic)

In 2014, I helped organize the MLg in Banff, and we invited Marina to give a keynote. She gave a typically brilliant talk on the paradox of abolition, and we sat up drinking rye until dawn talking about indigenous struggles in Canada. Kevin Floyd was there, too. Heartbreaking.

Here you can read the start of Selva Almada’s NOT A RIVER, a translation that taught me considerably more ray-specific fishing terminology than I’ll probably ever need again thebookerprizes.com/the-book…

I want to find the switch someone flipped which implanted the "early digital sensors = 'filmic look'" talking point into the heads of half the world's tech influencers so I can flip it back.

i imagine he thinks twitter is a seed of what it could be - people need some kind of global (or multi-state) platform to talk about big things, like climate disaster & going into space to another planet etc. Or, maybe he's addicted to twitter and wants to own it just because.
