An appeals court ruled that “The Pitt” is similar enough to “ER” to allow Michael Crichton’s widow to pursue a lawsuit over the Emmy-winning show. The appeals court did dismiss a claim against key creators of the show — Noah Wyle, John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill — finding no evidence that they were aware they could be violating Crichton’s contractual rights. “There are clear and numerous similarities between ‘The Pitt’ and ‘ER,” the court ruled, citing the emergency room setting, the fast pace, the medical jargon, the graphic depictions of injuries, and a young, incompetent doctor fresh from medical school. “We find the details here suffice for a prima facie case.” variety.com/2026/tv/news/the…

The lawsuit isn’t based solely on similarities between the shows. The Pitt emerged after negotiations for an ER revival fell apart, which would have seen Noah Wyle reprise his role as Dr. John Carter. au.variety.com/2025/tv/featur…

Florida. We have work to do. Our local governments are about to be gutted. Mutual aid will be resistance in this moment. After school & summer camp programs, roads, water management, public safety, senior centers, public transportation…we are in for a massive hit. This is when we lean into community. Florida will always be worth fighting for.

Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026). arkolith.com/news/news-micr… therepublic.com/?p=843020 governor.ny.gov/news/safer-str…
