Dockworkers across ports worldwide are taking part in a coordinated strike today to protest the arms trade and the shipment of weapons to Israel amid its ongoing genocide in Gaza. The action, supported by trade unions in more than 20 countries, aims to prevent ports from being used to facilitate the supply of arms linked to Israel’s military attacks. In Ireland, the country’s largest trade union, SIPTU, has joined the growing international support for the strike, reflecting workers’ opposition to the arms trade and their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Today marks the second anniversary of the Israeli massacre of the Abu Nasr family in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. More than 150 family members, including around 60 children, 38 women and two unborn babies, were killed in an Israeli strike on their five-storey residential building on 29 October 2024, according to survivor testimony shared by Aya Nasser with IP Voices. In February 2026, civil defence teams recovered the remains of 50 of the 68 people who had remained missing, while 18 were still unaccounted for. Two years later, the family continues to preserve their loved ones’ names and stories, refusing to let them be reduced to numbers or forgotten.
