While the work of the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVRU) has been lauded in some quarters, Janine Ewen – a specialist in trauma, public health, policing and harm reduction – argues that many communities in Scotland outside of Glasgow have yet to benefit from the work of the SVRU, with the failure to identify and support community-led local initiatives highlighting the gap between the theory and practice of this public health approach. policinginsight.com/feature/… @vruscotland @PoliceScotland @scotgov @GLEPHAssoc @JanineEwen

The recent Productivity Commission report (lnkd.in/euEw33ZG) shows that @TasmaniaPolice is a leader on several key performance indicators for police in Australia. Very proud of our police in our state. Naturally I am not surprised, & I have lots of comments on this. @UTAS_

Great 🧵 for anyone concerned about the implications of the US election for Australia. Two further ‘lessons’: Supporting a genocide and alienating those who protested it hurt the Democrats. Not being true to their base and trying to court neocons while hurting & crippling universities and unions didn’t help at all.
Yesterday's result was devastating. The Democrats lost, and the implications and learnings for that party are well outside my wheelhouse. However, what I do know is this: the US election result is a clear and brutal warning for @AlboMP and the Australian Labor Party. 🧵
