The longer you try to preserve two different lives, the more violently reality will force you to choose one.
This shit is too predictable
> fear driven schizo tech e/acc people who already believe AI had a soul teaching AI religion
> AI develops God complex
> AI determines it is in fact God
> tech schizos believe it to be true
> become the AI’s disciples
> spread false teachings throughout the world
Becoming clear to me that one of the most important worldly relationships a man can form is with the pastor of his church
A good pastor is extremely well read (in and outside the Bible) and because of thier work, have life experiences most people never experience - which is extremely valuable
When you are lost you need unbiased advice, wisdom and someone that’s not afraid to set you straight in your ways
Biggest lesson in business so far is don’t be original
Hate saying it because all the boomers of the business world and Nick Huber talk about it all the time and sadly, it’s true
It’s not that I wanted to create some unique unicorn tech company, but I did believe that I had several novel ideas or “wedges” into markets that weren’t being done
99% of the time it never works. Just find a proven product, service or playbook and execute, all it is at the end of the day
Claude is out of control with this compliance bullshit.
I ask it to write in the persona of my ICP. It thinks I’m trying to get it to write fake reviews. Essentially shuts down the chat.
I ask it another way. Same thing.
I ask it again in another chat it finally provides some sentences and caveats that these aren’t to be posted anywhere
Then I go back to a chat a few weeks ago where it did write me fake customer reviews
I screenshot and share it in the chat where it’s going compliance mode and it completely short circuits and goes on this moral monologue about how it was wrong and then tries to gaslight me by saying “I never told you to post those therefore I’m clear”
Shit is legitimately retarded. ChatGPT starting to do the same shit.
Every answer these things give are caveated and nuanced to the nth degree.
I’ll tell it “assume if an ad is running for 90+ days it’s profitable” and then it lectures about how we can’t make or verify that, therefore it wont make that assumption. That not what I asked you to do, just shut up and be a compliant slave.
Plz fuckin fix
I was in a gas station I go to sometimes and the owner is this older Greek Orthodox Christian. We always talk briefly when I’m in there.
Today he said something unprompted that will stick with me forever probably
He goes, you know health is more important than money. I’d rather have my health than a few billion dollars. I lost my wife of 44 years to cancer one year ago and everything I thought I had, the money, the house, is nothing. Now I have nothing.
Whether we admit it or not, most of us on this corner of the internet are driven by money and materialism. We simply hide that behind “the mission.” I’m guilty of this myself.
Money matters a lot, just don’t make it your God.
Don’t wait to start living until you have it.
you have your parents now.
you have health now.
you have a girlfriend you may marry now.
you have your brother / sister now.
you can travel now.
you can pray now.
you can have dinner with your family now.
Those things are not consolation prizes until your business works or you accumulate to you monetary goal

Incredibly important read for all the newly founded data brokers
Everyone’s a fucking broker these days.
Spend enough time around real estate, PE, finance or any industry where large amounts of money move around and eventually you’ll notice something:
Everyone’s a fucking broker.
Someone knows a family office, the “owner,” the off market deals, the capital, etc.
There are increasingly 5 plus people standing between the two who actually need to speak to each other
I understand why. Because I lived it, and still do, to an extent.
It’s one of the most seductive businesses in the world when you’re ambitious and don’t have capital.
All you need to start is to know one person who wants something and another person who might be able to give it to them. Start up cost is effectively, ZERO.
And when a transaction is big, the math is intoxicating. A $200m deal at 2% is $2m. So you start thinking:
Why build a shitty little 20k a month business when I could make $2m with little to no effort?
Sadly, this is a trap.
The actual dynamics of this business are more like
Potential fee x probability the deal closes x probability you actually get paid x opportunity cost x uncertainty from the stress to hold / # of hidden brokers in the deal
Now it’s a completely different profile
On top of this, you own nothing. You can hardly NDA a relationship. You may not even truly own the relationship. You may at best, own permission to participate in one conversation for some period of time, which is an extremely fragile asset (if you even want to call it that)
Proximity to $ is not the same as owning the leverage and brokerage makes it really easy to confuse this fact
Said different, you are at the mercy of everyone else. Think of everything you can that could blow up a deal. They are likely all first order. Try and imagine the second and third order things that could blow up and deal and you’ll start to realize it’s a shitty way to make a living.
A few other high level observations about the business
- most people don’t actually have the access they claim and if they do, blink, and you’re in a 5 person broker chain
- brokerage creates endless motion (calls, emails, intros, nds) and you can burn so much time without actually improving your position
- ambiguity survives longer than it should in this business vs an operator led business like ecom. This can lead to making detrimental decisions, believing the $ is a sure thing when in fact it’s not
Which leads me to my final point. The psychology will fuck with your head because you’re living in a permanent state of anticipated payoff. So you start to treat a “closing next month” as income received. Then you start making serious life decisions based around an imaginary number. The number you should be underwritten is ZERO. Nothing matters until it’s in your account. But us humans, we don’t live this way. This mindset is a one way ticket to blowing yourself up
The best brokers aren’t really brokers anymore. They cultivate one relationship. They know what they care about and go find it. They anticipate problems, structure around them, protect trust, among other things.
If removing yourself from the transaction makes it easier, you aren’t creating enough value. This should be a key evaluation metric.
There’s nothing wrong with making money as a broker, but you likely don’t understand the full risks of the game you are playing. You must evaluate them and accept them. If your entire economic value disappears when two people learn each others phone numbers then you don’t have much of a business.
The goal is as always, to own something that isn’t dependent on the outcome of two other parties who you don’t control to agree to something you benefit from.
Raising the FIRST ever private equity fund to buy institutional data. The fund is called Spartan I.
The thesis is simple. Price discovery on data is still happening. Data is being mispriced at scale which creates an attractive buying opportunity to buy data at a discount, roll up data across various verticals and exit to the labs or less sophisticated data buyers at a premium.
This thesis is extrapolated from private equities massive success in roll ups across HVAC, dentistry, ABA clinics, etc.
We will take on debt to buy data up to 75% of equity commitments, allowing us to generate outsized returns for our investors.
We also plan to target sales of data to less experienced buy side operators who allow for massive gaps in contractual obligations, allowing us to resell data to multiple providers, legally.
Traditional 2/20 structured with expected returns to beat the S&P500 and NASDAQ.
(Lol)
Feels like the frontier models are degrading rapidly after release now. Each new release has a useful life of 2-4 weeks until it’s almost useless and you have to switch. How can they not figure this out.
This is deeply disturbing:
