I’m very excited for the competitive ladder, but I think it’s really important to remind competitive players: The best way to protect the time and money you’ve invested in this game is to be kind to new players. I’ve been noticing a lot of TCG refugees at my nexus nights. Players that have realized Riftbound isn’t just a passing fad. It’s important that their first impression of Riftbound’s player base doesn’t remind them of the same shitty behavior they’re trying to run away from. This is my set of resolutions for the next year of OPL

Judging! I am by no means an expert judge, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when good players finish their match and then just wait for the next one. I’m committing myself to walking around after I finish and helping out new players play correctly (non coaching/backseating)

After reflecting I’ve realized that I’ve been somewhat half hearted about this game. I don’t want this to be another passing phase of my life and I’m committing to being the best riftbound player I can be.

Remembering names. I’m so dogshit at this it’s not even funny. My current fix is to start jotting down names in my notebook when I’m tracking points so at least the games are attached to a name, but open to solutions. I just know it feels great to be recognized as a local and I should get better at spreading that feeling.

Helping players bling their decks. I am notorious for being a min rarity player. I have a ton of foils that I will likely never use. I’m committing to bringing a deck box of foils and letting people trade their non foil copy in their deck for the foil version. I’ve already been doing 1:1 alt art trades, but this is how I can somewhat uniquely contribute.

Bringing food. I’m going to carry some protein bars in my bag. If my opponent misplays because they’re hungry that’s also not ethical riftbound.

Not needing take backs. I want to be more consistent with thinking through my lines. I’m usually pretty good about letting people do take backs. But, outside of testing games,I want to hold myself accountable to play cleanly.

Actively call out incorrect game states. I’m really ashamed to say that Ive definitely ignored my opponents mistakes if it would benefit me. This is CRINGE. If an opponent misses a draw or misses their trigger, I’m calling it out bc those games haunt me the most. If I lose more so be it.

Engage in the local trade market. I’m committing to selling cards at 80-85% of Tcg and prioritizing new players. I’ve finally sorted my bulk and I’m going to be carrying a small deck box full of meta bulk cards to give away. Also checking discords to see if I can help facilitate deck building. Trading is a lot of fun and if players can get discounts on cards going to locals you’ll have a more consistent local scene.

I got into Riftbound with the express purpose to get Yasuo cards, I got the Best Of at Hartford, so my collection was looking quite good for a while. BUT! With the Best of Overnumber coming out, I really got to lock in to try to win that, but till then here’s my collection. If anyone has any language Yasuo’s, that I don’t have, even if they’re bulk I’d be happy to take them off your hands. Will be at Convergence Fest, hope to see every other Best of Yasuo there! I really wanted to get the Best Um by @glitchedgoober, but had to make my money back from the flight somehow, so I couldn’t play Yasuo in either of the events…

Domain expansion but riftbound adds White/Black (life/death) with kindred. Can be added to a deck as a third color. Somewhat teased by neeko being domain-less similar to how they tease key mechanics a set before. Backline with cait/ambush with Shen+rengar+janna
