Your uncle is retarded. He landed at the airport in the city, and instead of going to the nearest industrial pig farm and working out an business contract, he drove 200km into the wilderness to try to rope villagers into animal husbandry. Is that how your country industrialized?
My uncle did a mission trip to Africa to teach a village how to raise pigs for food. They flew in with a bunch of pigs, built pens for them, Food and water troughs, and taught them how to breed them so they could always have meat. Two weeks of work and teaching. They went back a year later to check on the village. They had thrown a giant party the night after my uncle left, slaughtered and ate all the pigs, sold the feeders and fencing, and were really pissed off that the mission didn't bring them more pigs.

“Crucial elements that made them successful” 🫩
This doesn't negate the fact, though. We can't keep comparing ourselves to these countries and overlook the crucial elements that made them successful. And yes, high-trust is one of the elements.

Europeans get taxed because the taxes fund welfare states and extremely strong public services. Can you say the Nigerian state esp in this current iteration has been able to make proper use of what it currently has? Higher taxes in Nigeria is like giving money to a drug addict.
You guys conveniently compare Nigeria to European countries when it comes to free stuff, but you never extend that comparison to taxation, which is just as important to the discussion.

And by the way there’s no Nigerian that’s demanding rich country standards. 24/7 electricity, at least in urban areas is something that has since been solved in comparable countries. Decent road infrastructure, basic healthcare. Life expectancy. These are things that are achievable in our current iteration. For our size and potential, we are way behind our peers. It is not acceptable
Well, true to this too.

A poor country should not be creating the richest politicians on the planet. Untenable. Simple as that.
You can be against the current administration and still understand that Nigeria is a poor country. Those are not conflicting positions.

My first article for Praxians, our philosophy column at Zeitgeist Now @thezeitgeistnow. “If we Africans care about progress at a foundational level, we cannot hope to leapfrog into prosperity without first building and sustaining the intellectual cradles of our societies, testing and improving the ideas they spread, and aiming those ideas squarely at the advancement of our people. In developing nations, investing heavily in ideas and the knowledge economy cannot be an aristocratic luxury because ideas are quite literally the golden tickets out of poverty.” Read more 🫶⬇️

To underestimate an opponent, or to cast them, gratuitously, into some contumely and indiscriminate taxonomy of foolishness, or whatever other convenient species the vocabulary of contempt supplies, is a Wittgensteinian ruler, against you.

Hi everyone, I’m Marvellous, some of you know me as Ini. I’m a few months from finishing my MPH at NYU. I planned for this year with a student loan and a summer internship but it didn’t come through. Then this month, MPOWER shut down. I was on their waitlist. #FundDrMarvellous

The “fight against anti-intellectualism” on this app is just a bunch of word salad chefs trying to enforce authoritarianism while forgetting the very principles of intellectualism: nuance, critical analysis, context, and individualism. A clear case of “you no go school reach me”
