Is this a joke? The EU wants the UK to put tariffs on Chinese EVs and Steel in the Reset agreement using WTO GATT rules, but it also wants the UK to dynamically align with its's SPS rules which are against the WTO's CODEX rules. Talk about cherry-picking! catherinemcbride.substack.co…
No cherry-picking. No special treatment. The door is open. This time, it’s meant for coming in, not walking out. There is so much to do together to face global challenges🇪🇺🇬🇧 #Brexit

This is why every renter should HATE Labour’s Landlord Tax… 👇 Last year, Rachel Reeves introduced it. Now, John Healey has DOUBLED IT before it has even come into force! Labour doesn’t hang about when it comes to putting up taxes. It means landlords will be forced to pay up to 49p in tax on every pound they earn from rental properties. Why is Labour singling out landlords for a politically motivated tax? They didn’t pile extra taxes onto their trade union paymasters. As any renter or landlord will know, our rental sector is already in a mess. Start with Angela Rayner’s Renters’ Rights Act. In the third quarter of this year, the number of properties available to rent fell by 15,000. SpareRoom has found that more than a third of landlords are reducing their property portfolios. Almost half of landlords who own just a single property are selling up entirely. There is no point in having a myriad of ‘rights’ if you can’t find somewhere to live… Labour MPs will no doubt tell you this is all about fairness. I am sure Labour’s Treasury Minister, Emma Reynolds, would decry landlords as not being ‘working people’ - just something else to be taxed. They simply don’t understand the bigger picture because Labour MPs have so little real-life experience. Rogue landlords won’t follow these rules anyway. If you’re a landlord, you already face huge costs. Expensive insurance. Maintenance. Safety certificates that cost hundreds of pounds. Councils pile on the pressure too, making it difficult and eye-wateringly expensive to get the right licences. Meanwhile, HMRC is forcing landlords to file their ‘Making Tax Difficult’ reports five times a year. And don’t forget the vital home improvements that make tenants’ lives better - and cost money. All of this means landlords are asking themselves the question: ‘Is it really worth it?’ In the end, renters will foot the bill through higher rents (and the independent OBR has warned that this will happen) - if, of course, they can find somewhere to live in the first place. Conservatives want to help people own a home of their own. We will scrap net zero and gold-plated building regulations to make it cheaper to build a home, and scrap stamp duty to make it cheaper to buy a home. You don’t help renters by raising taxes on their landlords and tying them up in red tape. In the end, renters will pay the price for Labour’s Landlord Tax.

What started as trade and cooperation turned into unelected commissioners rewriting national law, punishing governments that refuse to line up, and selling every new power grab as "European and democratic values". The EU is not a union of free countries. It's a TOTALITARIAN system calling itself a democracy.

The TOTAL DEMOLITION of the IPCC Our latest peer-reviewed paper concludes that fossil carbon is a NEGLIGIBLE component of the net atmospheric CO₂ increase. 500 years of isotopic evidence. Elementary mass conservation. A devastating mathematical result.

The Bank of England has raised interest rates to 4%, supposedly to tackle inflation. There is just one problem with this decision. The Bank knows that much of the inflation we are suffering is being driven by rising oil and energy prices, largely resulting from conflict in the Middle East. It also knows that raising interest rates cannot reduce those prices. So why is it doing this? The answer is that the Bank believes it must suppress demand elsewhere in the economy to compensate for rising energy costs. In other words, it is deliberately making mortgages more expensive, increasing business borrowing costs, discouraging investment and reducing household spending power. And all this when people are already struggling with higher energy bills. That is problem number one. There is, however, another problem. Higher interest rates increase costs for businesses, which can then feed through into higher prices. They can, in that case, add to inflation rather than reduce it. The Bank is imposing economic pain to address a problem its chosen policy cannot directly solve. That is not sound economic management. It is the consequence of an economic dogma that refuses to recognise the difference between inflation caused by excessive demand and inflation caused by supply shocks. When will we learn?

As unelected UK PM Burnham and his fellow puppets tell the UK we need to be back in the EU - perhaps this is why ? The state of ‘democracy’ in the EU today. You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland). You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission." Writer: Jacob Reynolds

If you are a sane, rational person who can perform simple maths and cares about the economy of their country and the future of the people within it, then you should be livid with the government this morning. There is no part of the proposed EU reset terms, that you should be remotely happy about. The entire deal is giving the EU what it wants, and dressing it up as a benefit for the UK when it is anything but. - Promising to not deport EU criminals - Paying billions a year to build infrastructure in Eastern Europe - Subsidizing EU students to study in the UK, costing hundreds of millions a year - Putting UK laws in the control of the EU again, with no say at all from Parliament - Adding hundreds of millions of costs onto imports from non-EU countries - Making imported EV cars 30% more expensive, to help EU car manufacturers - Giving 80-100,000 extra youth visas a year, increasing competition and driving down wages for our unemployed youth - Stopping checks on imported agrifoods, increasing risk of diseases currently rampant in EU livestock entering the UK All of this with the reason of making exporting food to the EU easier, which we do virtually none of and never did, as we are an island that consumes more than it produces. It doesn't matter if you ultimately want to rejoin the EU or not. This isn't about that. This is about an atrocious deal and our atrocious government. Fight this with everything you've got.

Let's not forget who is ultimately responsible for handing out those millions of visas to people to come to Britain since 2021 to do low paid, low skilled work - and bring their many dependants - while young Brits were left to rot on the welfare scrap heap. This wasn't just economic madness, set to cost British taxpayers BILLIONS over decades, it was an immoral act directly contradicting the clear and expressed wishes of the British people for lower migration. The person responsible was the then PM @BorisJohnson. Shame on you.

Since I posted this it’s been reported that PM Burnham will announce £40m today for infrastructure and green energy projects in the Caribbean. So that didn’t take long. And if Burnham/Miliband think this sort of gesture will appease the reparations grifters I have several bridges to sell them. They are not beating up on the UK to join the net zero bandwagon!!
Miliband is preparing the ground for a formal apology here. And making clear money — if not reparations — will follow. The comments are worth a read!!

Imagine running a business where every time you overspent, you could simply instruct your customers to pay more. No need to cut waste. No need to become more efficient. No need to serve your clients effectively. Just demand more money. That's what’s happening with the British state. We are all paying the price.
