Quaker Wendy Geiger wrote: “Love is like light; it enters wherever there is a crack or door ajar in one’s heart.. You begin somewhere and practice loving. … once you open your heart to loving one thing, then another, you may .. find yourself enjoying how loving makes you feel.”

the right to roam is about more than recreation. The English countryside is a place to find joy and wonder, to come together with friends, to heal ourselves. The right to roam is the right to belong. For everyone... Please watch our new video and share...

In this afternoons video (5pm - link in bio) we take a look at how picture A, now looks like picture B. At a cost of: £ 124,000 It would have cost £5,000 to repoint increasing it from 17t to up to 40t capacity. All @HighwaysEngland own figures.

David Ogilvy cracked this. Write very simply, but chuck in one fancy word in every 200 to remind the reader you're not an idiot. "If you are too diffident to drive a Rolls-Royce...."
Perhaps the greatest title of a psychology paper ever (The study amended essays, replacing long words with shorter ones. Participants who saw the essays with the shorter words judged the author as more intelligent than those who read the more wordy essays)

one of my "consequences of not using titles" moments was when a Quaker committee in Cambridge, after meeting several times, realised that all its members had PhDs. Except one who was a retired college bursar. So that established the hierarchy (bursars tell academics what to do)

Revealed: since 2010, Govt has spent less than £2,000 a year on promoting the Countryside Code: theguardian.com/uk-news/2020… This must change. It should be fostering a culture of ‘leave no trace’ and increasing public access to nature, like in Scandinavia: righttoroam.org.uk/

I note Churchill sent his famous 'Brevity Memo' on 9th August 1940. As anyone who works in government (and I suspect elsewhere) knows, it has truly stood the test of time on its 80th anniversary ✓
