New fusion political ideology called 'effective Maoism' where you work a high-flying finance job and then wire 10% of your income to communist guerillas.

he's simply the goat
One of the greatest hacks I have is to create 2 separate text threads when I plan a group event 1. For the late people, I will tell them the event is 30 minutes earlier than it actually is 2. For the punctual people, I tell them the real event time Everyone shows up on time

nithya raman's colleagues on the city council don't like her because she has correctly counseled them to not oppose housing developments that will win in court anyway
#LosAngelesMayor Politico: Nithya Raman is facing “a full-on, multiple-person verbal assault” from her City Council colleagues, not one of whom has endorsed her. If Raman wins, her ambitious agenda may depend on her ability to persuade a council majority to go along. politico.com/news/2026/10/20…

I clocked this mid movie too
Replying to @QiaochuYuan
yes. she is also very clearly anxious/codependent/devoted in a way that makes it easy for partners to take advantage of her & she is an aquarius (i clocked this mid-movie) - which lends credence to her "it can run any test" wording being a consequence of her future-oriented mindset, not an intentional manipulation

reminds me a lot of the family visit episodes of 'the bachelor' in which the illusion of the show is invariably shattered by watching parents be absolutely terrified of what their kid is doing to themselves (with the exception of 'the golden bachelor')
As much as YCSE is about everything on the surface it’s also very much about what the Internet and multimedia has done to language and communication itself. Some of the strangest scenes are when Holmes’ parents are there and can’t seem to even fit into the conversations being had

one of the achievements of 'survivor' is that every family visit is 100% enthusiastic, and i was shocked to find that 'love island' family visits dodge this too. they can follow along live, so they too can be seduced by the narrative the editors sell - about their own kids.

nathan fielder has from the start explored 'reality show' dynamics and You Can See Everything is still part of that

her running and getting wiped out is way better for the democratic party brand than her not running her running and winning would also be good for the democratic party brand because there's no way for her to win w/o publicly reckoning with her failures (see: biden 2020)
Why are we encouraging this undemocratic nonsense? It’s insulting to the millions of voters who are eager for her to run and to vote for her. We should be encouraging any and all candidate who want to be president to run.

if i was her i would not run because i think she will lose and losing sucks and she's already rich and can do other stuff. she could've run for california governor and saved us from that c-tier primary lmao

i also can't think of a situation in which i'd personally vote for her but that isn't the same as saying a person shouldn't run it's a democracy i like to see what the will of the people is with lots of competition!

ive been saying this for so long it's a big reason i think i could never run for anything im too militantly atheist to run the GOAT georgist rhetoric: "God made the land for the people"
there's a lot of reasons religion is very useful electorally but as an atheist it pains me to admit that religiosity is just so much better for rhetoric

Abundance usually gets explained as a list of problems: zoning, permits, licensing, slow approvals. Here’s what we'd actually get if we fixed them: Lunch costs $4, like it does in Japan and Singapore. Most US cities require three or four separate sinks, which makes a kitchen under 200 square feet nearly impossible. Anyone can open an owl cafe or a vegan lesbian bookstore. Japan is full of tiny, oddly specific businesses run by one or two people. They survive because small spaces are cheap and enough people live close enough to walk in. A room in a big city for $400 a month. These buildings housed millions of low-income and older Americans until cities banned most of them by the 1980s. A three-bedroom apartment you can stay in after you have a kid. US codes require two staircases in buildings over three stories, so family-sized units only fit on the corners. Most of the world allows one staircase. A new electric car for about $10,000. China sells these globally. Americans can't buy it. A government so dependable it's boring. When a loved one dies, you report it once instead of to every agency. We can decide to make it happen here. The full list has 16 things, from taco trucks on every corner to no more pandemics. I wrote this to also announce that today is DC Abundance's official launch! If you’re in DC, come celebrate and see the G.O.A.T. Derek Thompson speak!
