UK Counter Terrorism Policing chief Laurence Taylor suggests the RAF Fairford suspects were released on bail as part of a tactical move by investigators to collect more evidence, which he says was successful “We know that decisions made during our investigations can sometimes appear illogical to those on the outside, but I want to make it very clear, that there will always be good reason, or rationale behind them. We will always ensure that, should we identify any ongoing threat, we will manage that as part of the investigation. “Like our adversaries, our tactics vary – and may not always be obvious. “In this case, this decision-making has led to swifter progress, better evidence and ultimately us securing the charges I have announced today. “In sensitive investigations like this, it can take time to convert intelligence, into evidence and that is what scores of my officers and staff have been doing over the last few weeks.”

This is pathetic and desperate from Farage He really does seem to be reaching his end of days
Nigel Farage is asked by @bbcnickrobinson why 80% of Reform UK’s donations are gifts from people who don’t actually live in the UK

This is embarassing. It's quite clear Raheem Kassam has something on Nigel Farage. It's the only explanation for his failure to disavow his comments.
Car crash alert 🚨 Sally Nugent asks Nigel Farage about Raheem Kassam's “Nigerian scammer” comments on Kemi Badenoch and his response is painful to watch. #bbcbreakfast

Dear @IsabelOakeshott will you please clarify what lobbying and public opinion campaign you/Oakright offered to Lybia (via former MP Daniel Kawczynski who now works with you)? Why was that not registered under FIRS lobbying rules? Was any Reform MP doing anything linked to Lybia?

Best anecdote in Carol Thatcher's book about her father is when Sir Denis boarded a train at Paddington in which the only empty compartment was reserved for Rosewood Psychiatric Hospital. Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off. 'One, two, three, four ... who are you?" "I'm the Prime Minister's husband." "Six, seven, eight, nine..."

❗️EXCLUSIVE❗️ Andy Burnham has opened the door to Britain rejoining the EU’s free movement rules, arguing an “honest discussion” about the idea is needed The PM said the nature of immigration has been “different” since Brexit, with more foreigners moving permanently to the UK rather than returning home Burnham noted how his father, Roy, an engineer, took advantage of the EU rules in the 1990s to work in Germany He also said since leaving the bloc Britain has lost access to ‘Eurodac’, an EU database on border crossings “I think you have to have a very factual, quite evidence-based debate about this,” he said Burnham made clear staying out of free movement would **not** be a red line for talks (unlike adopting the Euro or rejoining the Schengen Area) Burnham made the comments to me in one of four interviews conducted during his first 100 days in office. All unpacked in tomorrow’s Sunday Times. It’s big news. Free movement seen as a key reason why the country voted Brexit in 2016. No PM has made the argument for potentially rejoining since… until now. (Important to note: Burnham accepts there were ‘very significant challenges’ too with free movement. Hasn’t reached a firm decision yes or no. He continues to mull over ‘options’ for closer EU ties) KEY BURNHAM QUOTE “Freedom of movement had very significant challenges associated with it and I spoke about them in my previous time in Parliament. But, at the same time, it was a type of immigration that perhaps wasn’t as difficult (as now). “Revolving door migration where people would come and then go back is different. The balance of migration has changed, hasn’t it, since then? I think we’ve just got to have an honest discussion about those things.” Read the full story here: ‘Andy Burnham is open to adopting EU free movement’ thetimes.com/article/491a046…

This is somewhere between deeply irresponsible and a lie. HMRC will be able to "seize money" from people who owe tax, aren't disputing it, but just fail to pay. That's people who cause the rest of us to pay more tax.
Under Labour, HMRC will reach into your bank account and seize your money. Under Reform, you’ll get a £30 rebate if HMRC leave you stuck on the phone for 30 mins.

NEW: Rosneft’s Arctic jewel is in trouble Last month Rosneft cut the ribbon on its next great oil frontier, the $50 billion Vostok Oil project. Putin watched by video link as the site saw its first tanker loaded with crude. But the milestone obscured a more complicated reality: the Ukraine war means Vostok Oil is years behind schedule and still far from becoming Russia’s new oil province. The vast majority of crude flowing through the Vostok network has in fact been diverted from mature fields that have been producing for years, Bloomberg can reveal. Just before the terminal opened in September, new oilfields in the Payakha cluster, expected to become key assets of Vostok Oil, accounted for less than 5% of its flows. Satellite imagery shows development continuing, but bringing those fields up to scale will require years more work and investment, according to Bloomberg analysis of the imagery and conversations with analysts. That’s proving difficult as the war continues. And the hugely expensive project will soon be within striking distance of Ukraine. If the range of Ukrainian drone strikes keeps increasing at its recent extraordinary pace, Vostok Oil could come within reach in months. In Bloomberg News’ Rosneft deep dive, free to read here: bloomberg.com/news/features/…

Some criticism of this being beneath a PM totally misses the fact that this isn’t just an everyday annoyance, the behaviour of enforcement companies is seen as emblematic of a rigged/exploitative system and is entirely the sort of cause of misery people want a govt to tackle.
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced changes to car parking fines - Drivers will have a 5-minute grace period to decide whether to park and 10 minutes to leave after a parking session ends - A £20 maximum charge on appeal for minor mistakes, such as entering the wrong number plate or not displaying a permit - Charges will also be cancelled on appeal for breakdowns, medical emergencies or broken ticket machines - The £100 cap on charges will remain - The rules will come into force as soon as possible and operators that break them will lose access to DVLA data
