We don't owe Putin or Trump any thank
When Ukraine meets the conditions for Accession to Europe we owe a debt of gratitude we can never repay to everyone who has served and particularly those who have paid the ultimate price

๐บ๐ฆ important negotiations on the road to lasting security guarantees for Ukraine
Spoke with President of Finland @alexstubb and Prime Minister of Norway @jonasgahrstore following their call today with the Russian leader and as a continuation of our discussions in Oslo with representatives of America, Europe, and NATO. I am grateful for the detailed briefing and for their active support for our diplomacy and the peace efforts we are pursuing together with all our partners.
Alex and Jonas made it clear to the Russian leader that real de-escalatory steps are needed regarding our energy and infrastructure. We discussed preparations for the trilateral meeting planned for November at the team level โ Ukrainian, American, and Russian. Finland and Norway, as countries that border Russia, have a particular interest in sound and reliable security arrangements. We also discussed various formats for our engagement with partners in Europe that could be useful in further supporting diplomacy, our defense, and our shared security.
There must be peace, de-escalation is needed, and Russia must stop dragging out the war. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!
๐Heartbreaking news from Ukraine
RIP Volodymyr ๐บ๐ฆ
๐ Heartbreaking news from Kherson.
Today, October 27, Volodymyr Obertas, press officer of Ukraineโs 34th Marine Brigade, was killed by an explosive device in Kherson while accompanying medical personnel.
Volodymyr was the talented man behind the wonderful videos weโve received from the 34th Marine Brigade.
He was originally from Oleshky, the Russian-occupied town across the Dnipro River. He dreamed of returning home.
And here is the heartbreaking irony.
Volodymyr created the video that spread across social media, drawing attention to the desperate situation in Oleshky and helping build momentum for the evacuation of its residents.
Today, on the very first day of the announced ceasefire intended to allow that evacuation, he was killed. Just a few kilometres from his hometown, without ever seeing the outcome of the mission that meant so much to him.
A man who used his camera to show the world what was happening in Ukraine has become another victim of Russiaโs war.
Rest in peace, Volodymyr. ๐ฏ๏ธ๐บ๐ฆ
My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fellow Marines.

An important humanitarian mission has begun in Oleshky.
A bilateral ceasefire has been declared in the area where the mission is taking place.
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has headed to the site and will be responsible for coordinating the process. We are in constant contact with him.
It is critically important that this mission to rescue our people be carried out successfully and safely.
I am sincerely grateful to everyone involved in carrying out and supporting this operation.
Every Ukrainian life is priceless.
We continue our work.
Glory to Ukraine!

Delighted to see the first Ukrainian satellite in orbit.

๐ฐ Great news! Ukraine has launched its first satellite for its own communications network
Himera, together with Denmark's GomSpace, has launched the Obria Nano satellite into orbit.
With its help, Ukraine will be able to develop its own communications infrastructure, relying less on foreign satellite systems.
The first test satellite of Ukraine's future sovereign satellite communications network is already undergoing testing.
An expected outcome as BoE takes a deeper dive into Revoluts processes.

Bank of England orders review of Revolutโs product approval processes
The Bank of Englandโs PRA has ordered a Section 166 review of Revolutโs product approval processes, according to the Financial Times. The order came earlier this year, around the time Revolut finally secured its full UK banking licence in March. The aim is to examine the risks around rapid launches of new financial products and better understand the robustness of the groupโs internal systems.
A Section 166 forces a firm to appoint external expertsโaccountants or lawyersโto examine its controls and produce a report with recommendations. It is an evidence-gathering tool. If failures are found, regulators can then impose penalties or take other action.
This follows earlier action by the European Central Bank. Last year the ECB found โdeficienciesโ in Revolutโs new product approval processes and ordered a third-party review of its risk, compliance and legal functions governing new product launches in Europe. The move came after CEO Nik Storonsky said he likes employees to act like โself-guided missilesโ with little oversight when developing products.
Revolutโs wait for a full UK licence was already the longest of any bank in the country. With the licence now granted, the Section 166 shows regulators still want extra safeguards in place before Revolut pushes further into core banking products. The practical question is how far this slows product velocity. Whoever leaked the detail has also made visible a level of supervisory attention we normally don't know about.
An appropriate response on the subject of satellite security from many countries.
I don't advocate thanking Musk though
#satellite
#IoT
The global response to Musk and Trump's pressure on Ukraine, accompanied by a temporary shutdown of Starshield, was swift.
Here's where things stand now:
๐จ๐ฆ CANADA
The Canadian government has signed a CAD 2.3 billion contract with national satellite operator Telesat to expand its Lightspeed low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation.
Lightspeed was originally developed as a commercial competitor to Starlink and OneWeb. However, the government is now funding the integration of a dedicated, secure military communications system operating in the Ka-band and has already placed an order for additional satellites with Canadian aerospace company MDA Space.
๐ซ๐ฎ FINLAND
Finnish company ICEYE, a developer of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, and Nokia have announced a strategic partnership to develop sovereign LEO broadband communications systems for interested European governments.
The project aims to provide European countries with a ready-made platform allowing each government to fully own and control its own satellite communications infrastructure, including encryption, without dependence on foreign providers.
This concept is known as "Sovereign SatCom."
๐ช๐บ EUROPEAN UNION
The European Commission has moved toward awarding manufacturing contracts and increasing funding for its sovereign satellite communications network, IRISยฒ.
Airbus Defence and Space has already signed contracts in Toulouse to manufacture the first 66 LEO satellites. Thales Alenia Space has been tasked with developing specialized secure payloads for government applications.
The program has been expanded to 348 satellites, with an additional โฌ4 billion in funding.
๐ฐ๐ท SOUTH KOREA
South Korea has successfully conducted its first orbital launch of the year using its domestically developed Nuri (KSLV-II) rocket from the Naro Space Center.
The rocket simultaneously deployed 14 payloads, including additional satellites for the national NEONSAT constellation and several military CubeSats.
๐ฏ๐ต JAPAN
Japan has allocated approximately $1 billion in subsidies to develop a nationally controlled direct-to-device satellite network.
The system is designed to allow ordinary smartphones to communicate directly with satellites during major earthquakes or military conflicts.
The project involves cooperation between Rakuten and AST SpaceMobile.
๐บ๐ฆ UKRAINE
The UASAT project, an initiative by STETMAN and a consortium of partners, has successfully completed registration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Preparations are now underway for the UASAT-NANO test satellite, which will mark the first step toward creating Ukraine's own sovereign satellite constellation.
๐จ๐ฟ CZECH REPUBLIC
At the same time, agreements with the Czech Republic are being finalized for the joint development of a constellation of optical reconnaissance satellites called Suziria ("Constellation").
Ukraine is also expected to gain access to backup capacity within Europe's GOVSATCOM system.
๐ฉ๐ช GERMANY
German company Isar Aerospace successfully launched its Spectrum rocket into orbit carrying satellites on September 5.
THE BIG PICTURE
The brilliant strategists Elon and Donnie wanted to show us who controls the red button for satellite internet.
Well, they succeeded.
And in a strange way, perhaps we should thank them.
Because they have reminded the entire world of one simple truth:
Whoever controls your communications can control your future.
And now countries around the world are working to make sure that no single billionaire โ or American president โ can ever hold that power over them again.

Who knew ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Nik Storonsky sorts Revolut employees into 4 tiers
โซ๏ธ brilliant: they find the goal and reach it alone. "self-guided missiles"
โซ๏ธ good: give them the goal and they hit it
โซ๏ธ average: weekly iterations to get there
โซ๏ธ below average: most likely miss it anyway
his rule: minimize management time per person. Asked if he fires the average ones: "I do, yes"
Winning first. Empathy second.
