The creator of Pat the Bunny, Dorothy Kunhardt, was an innovative artist and writer with a quirky personality. Though she was sometimes discouraged, she never let a “no” keep her from creating something new. DOROTHY’S IDEAS, lyrical picture book biography. #pbpitch #nf #l

TIL that Daphne du Maurier wrote the short story that The Birds is based on, so she wrote the source text for two of his movies. (The other one being Rebecca.)
it's been over sixty years and no film promo pic has gone as hard as this still of tippi hedren lighting one up with a crow for alfred hitchcock's 'the birds' (1963)

I would love to see Jamaica Inn, but what are the odds it’s available at all when the only way to watch Rebecca is to buy the Criterion DVD?

I have not seen The Birds but I used to read the short story from my English text book over and over on the school bus (as a very cool child with many friends)

I want this to stop being true. (Apparently it was Internet Archive this time, which feels like some kind of irony.)
Turns out this service is called HAVE I BEEN PWNED and I will just keep finding out who I've given my data to when I learn that they've allowed it to be stolen.

This graphic biography of Tolkien and Lewis’s friendship comes out next week and I’m SO excited
At this hour, on this date, in 1931… C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien have their legendary conversation about God and Myth on Addison’s Walk, and then into the night at Magdalen College. “One of the single most important conversations of the 20th century.”

(But also ALSO, trimming that last 10% would require an editor who is given actual time to edit, a thing that doesn’t seem to exist in the way that it did.)

This is the thing. I’m not actually wildly concerned about Tom Sawyer’s Island. But the river and the riverboat are vital in making the Magic Kingdom feel special
I feel like the appeal of the river is that it creates a grand impression and makes the park feel like a big kingdom. All the stuff near the water feels cooler because of it. Even if you don't go to the island or on the water it improves your experience.
