Elon Musk on the most underappreciated breakthrough in AI: turning your phone into one of the fastest second opinions in medicine.
Here's how Elon describes the workflow in his own words:
"You can literally take a photograph of your blood work, like the page from your phone, upload that to Grok. It'll understand what all the data results are and tell you if there's something wrong. It's pretty amazing."
The use case is simple but striking.
A document that would normally sit on your kitchen counter waiting for a follow-up appointment can now be analysed in seconds, with the AI flagging anything that looks abnormal in the results.
When asked about its accuracy, Elon is direct:
"I haven't seen it be wrong yet."
It's a strong claim, but he grounds it in why AI is particularly well-suited for this kind of work:
"I think AI actually will be very helpful with medical stuff because AI can look at all the studies and look at all the data, cross-check everything, and give you good recommendations."
The point he's making is that medicine is, at its core, a pattern recognition problem on top of an enormous body of research.
No single physician can read every study, remember every edge case, or cross-reference every data point in real time, but AI can.
And that scale of recall, applied to your specific results, is what makes the experience feel different from a typical Google search.
The capability also extends well beyond blood work. According to him:
"Even as it is right now, you can upload your X-rays and your MRI images to Grok and it'll give you a medical diagnosis. And that diagnosis from what I've seen is at least as good as what doctors tell you, if not… I've certainly seen cases where it's actually better than what doctors tell you."
