Personal news: I’m excited to share that this week, I start as a fall sports intern at the @washingtonpost, where I’ll be assisting with Wizards, Mystics, Commanders and other local coverage.
Pumped to contribute to the sports section of one of the world’s most iconic papers!
Tough road loss for the Wizards tonight, who rallied late but fell in Charlotte, 110-103. Washington was outrebounded by 13. Anthony Davis secured 29 points and 10 boards.
Notably, Justin Champagnie left the game with a foot injury. Brian Keefe didn't have an update postgame.

Crazy stuff here with the Maryland football 4th quarter student raffle this week:
You can win free tuition for the spring semester if you stay through the 4th quarter and enter the raffle. Eligible up to in-state tuition rates.
Maryland is offering a free tuition raffle for the spring 2027 semester during Saturday’s football game against Illinois — for fans who stay until the fourth quarter.
A new way to try and convince students to remain at SECU Stadium.

Caught up with Maryland boosters on Michael Locksley's dismissal and their feelings on football's future. Each shared a sense of hope with Jim Smith leading the way.
“This should be an exceptionally attractive landing spot for the right coach.”

Receiver Treylon Burks will be back in practice today, per Commanders coach Dan Quinn, while defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw continues to rehab his knee and "is not trending as fast" as Washington hoped.
Marcus Mariota and Charles Omenihu will also be back at practice today.
The boosters also felt the timing of Locksley's departure was right. Fifty-year donor Rick Jaklitsch, for example, felt Maryland "was blessed" to have someone with Locksley's character running the program, but "couldn't wait" longer to move on.
“It’s a move that had to be made."

With Michael Locksley’s firing, Maryland football’s commits have tough decisions to make.
Keep track of who has reaffirmed commitments and who’s stepping back from the program at the Diamondback’s recruiting tracker:

Jim Smith will speak to the media on Tuesday, per release, introducing Maryland interim-coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim.
Media will also be able to watch and film practice for 30 minutes, which is exciting. We haven’t been given that level of access before during this season.
Big 124-120 road win for the Wizards over the Bulls tonight. Trae Young goes for 25 points, while Kyshawn George adds 22 and Anthony Davis notches 19.
Justin Champagnie continues to look like a real asset off the bench. Eleven points and 14 rebounds for the forward.

The Wizards battled but couldn't quite rally against the Raptors, losing by 10.
Washington committed 20 turnovers. Brian Keefe emphasized "this is a new team," but that number felt reminiscent of last season's struggles.

The Wizards had 20 turnovers tonight. They had 20+ in a game 13 times last season.
All were losses. Early in the season, but an area Washington must clean up to find success.
Justin Champagnie emphasized that he felt physicality was the difference in Wizards-Raptors:
"We should have came into the game a little bit more physical, kind of matched the energy from the jump. But
it's still a learning curve for us. We're still trying to figure it out."
Wizards lose to the Raptors, 112-102. Twenty-three turnovers hampered Washington’s rally effort, including 8 by Kyshawn George.
Anthony Davis had just nine points after his 34-point season opener.
The Wizards have made this a tight game in the third quarter. But rebounding has been an issue - Raptors currently outrebounding Washington 8-1 on the glass in the frame.
Trae Young left Raptors forward Jamison Battle on the floor with a vicious crossover move. But he missed the ensuing 3-pointer.
Still, Young is up to a team-high 8 points, including two threes. Wizards trail 42-34 midway through the second quarter after once being behind 17.
