Getting ahead of tomorrow. 1. Trump was a problem for Republicans tonight. But they created an environment in which he could drag them down. They could have taken action on all the major issues if they wanted to.

4. Conservatives and DSA Democrats are the solution. Yep. You heard me. The extremes are the solution to our political dysfunction. Moderates and stand-pat party politics on both sides of the aisle got us into this mess. We need the extremes to get us out.

Throughout American history, reform has always come from the extremes. Susan Collins and John Thune don’t change the system. They are the system.

Preparing? He’s already locked up the votes.

I hate to say it, but America is over. The communists and jihadists are going to open our borders and replace our votes with votes from illegals aliens. We now have reps who openly speak about their hatred of America, their love of communism and their support for sharia law. We won’t be able to undo the damage they cause on our country come 2028. America 250 was a funeral. The American Dream is dead.

Many Senate Republicans will be happier in the minority. They can issue press releases and denounce Democrats all day long while not having to explain why they aren’t actually trying to win.

Why anyone would ever want to double down on a record that produced tonight’s historic defeat of Republicans is beyond me.

Seriously?
Over the last two years, Senate Republicans have put up a strong record of accomplishment that’s created safer streets, more money in Americans’ pockets, and new opportunities for families and businesses to get ahead. After fighting Democrat obstruction at every turn, we prevented the largest tax hike in American history, secured our border in an unprecedented way, confirmed the president’s Cabinet at the fastest pace in two decades, and put strong conservative judges on benches across the country faster than we have since the Reagan administration. I’m proud of our team and everything we’ve done for the American people, and I’m looking forward to the important work we have in front of us over the next few months. As we head into 2027, Senate Republicans will not stand idly by as the far-left, socialist wing of the Democrat Party attempts to unwind everything we’ve done. Thankfully, we still have President Trump in the White House, and we’ll work with him to stop the worst impulses of Democrat extremism. We cannot let their fringe positions become the mainstream.

Soon to be former Speaker announces plans to double down on inaction after two years of inaction cost him his majority.
🚨 JUST IN: Speaker Johnson announces plans to DOUBLE DOWN and TAKE BACK THE HOUSE in 2028 "We DOUBLE DOWN." "Come 2028 — WE WILL TAKE BACK THE HOUSE, and we will FINISH this job." 🇺🇸 It has to happen. We can never allow America to fall to the socialists who won tonight!

Given the experience with regime change in Iraq, it seems reasonable to expect that implementing the same policy in Iran will impact American interests negatively. washingtonpost.com/world/nat…

The baseline for a war with Iran is Iraq, not Grenada.

Does this mean that Iran poses less of a threat to the United States than Iraq did in 2003? If so, then why is war on the table? If not, then wouldn’t it take longer for the US to win a war in Iran than it has to win the war in Iraq (not to mention Afghanistan)?
Senator @TomCottonAR tells Firing Line if it comes to war with Iran, he is confident the United States would win, and would win swiftly. “Two strikes, the first strike and the last strike,” says the Senator.

I imagine that Cotton would argue that the United States could have easily won the war in Iraq (and Afghanistan) if it weren’t for opposition at home. But if that’s the case, why doesn’t he think that similar opposition to a war with Iran will exist?

This is why it is impossible to unilaterally draw a line on further engagement. "Isolated" air strikes tend to develop into engagements. Once the US acts, it is then forced to react to how Iran responds. thehill.com/homenews/5364482…

If shock and awe didn’t work in Iraq, what makes Trump think American air power can succeed in defeating Iran? And if ground troops can’t succeed in Iraq, what makes Trump think ground troops can’t succeed in Iran?
