i’m sorry but, assuming Haley even wants Abdul to win….if you were nearly the Democratic nominee for Senate….and you cannot dissuade your finance from voting for the Republican nominee for Senate….you are objectively horrible at your job!

The NYT is so desperate to find an October surprise they bury the lede: 1) The staffer retracted her statement. 2) The staffer was a fired disgruntled employee. 3) They stuff this line in the article: "Ballot-stacking tactics are common in politics and generally considered legal — and have been employed by both parties in Alaska."
SCOOP: Democrats have insisted they have nothing to do with the other Dan Sullivan on Alaska's Senate ballot. But aides with the Mary Peltola campaign and DSCC were part of a monthslong secret plan to recruit him to run -- as well as other candidates. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/us/po…

The butthurt handling of this primary defeat by Haley Stevens and now her fiance after they had tens of millions in outside money spent on her behalf is appalling. The next SecDef or a Trump SCOTUS judge is on the line here! Totally pathetic & reveals that the loss was deserved

The MAGA meltdown over Obama’s Cheesecake Factory joke is fucking hilarious. These people have spent a decade worshipping a man who insults literally everyone, but Obama makes ONE joke about Trump’s tacky, gold-plated dictator aesthetic and suddenly the blue-check brigade is clutching pearls and demanding civility. Now they’re calling OBAMA an out-of-touch elitist while defending a billionaire who lives in a gold-plated fantasyland and shits in a gold toilet. The selective outrage is embarrassing. And the complete lack of self-awareness should be studied by scientists. For people who built their entire political identity around ā€œfuck your feelings,ā€ MAGA sure has a lot of fucking feelings. ā„ļøā„ļøā„ļøā„ļø
Sorry Barrack Hussein @BarackObama, Cheesecake Factory has good food and it’s a place Americans can afford. We can’t all be like you and big Mike. You know, with private 5 star chefs who end up drowning and dying while naked in 2 feet of water at our Martha’s Vineyard mansions.

I think what’s interesting is that last night I saw more commentary about Obama saying the WH renovations were tacky than Trump admitting he doesn’t care about Americans struggling to pay for gas.
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

Elon Musk found us here. We’re indigenous to this land.
If people dislike Elon Musk so much, why do they still use the platform he owns?

Although Biden made significant progress on many things Americans said they cared about (ironically, including inflation and immigration by 2024) and passing far more legislation than was expected with such slim majorities and a rightwing SCOTUS, he was not able or willing to go out and sell that progress to Americans. Relatedly, he faced a hostile press upset about access and press conferences eager to emphasize any gaffe or party infighting. His age-related decline was exagerrated and became a proxy for that press relatonships and perceived ineffectiveness. This is my firm belief of the Biden presidency.
Yes, all I'm saying is that strategically, the key issue is identifying WHY few Americans agreed that Biden was a good president. It wasn't just age. Was it policy? Or was it the kind of attacks that would be wielded regardless of policy?

Sarah is absolutely correct. When I talk to actual voters who chose Trump over Harris, you know what never comes up? Liz Cheney. You know what does? They thought Harris was a weak candidate and too far to the left. Many genuinely believed Harris was the bigger risk to democracy, not Trump. Harris was saddled with all the baggage of the Biden administration. From downplaying the border crisis to insisting the economy was doing great while Americans felt otherwise, voters were frustrated and she failed to convince them she represented anything different. To be fair to Harris, she was dealt a pretty shitty hand. Biden never should have run for reelection in the first place. His decision denied Democrats the opportunity to have a competitive primary that could have produced a stronger nominee, or at the very least, given Harris more time to define herself, distance herself from Biden’s failures, and make a compelling case to voters. But blaming one day of campaigning with Liz Cheney for Harris’s loss is a convenient way to avoid confronting the much bigger problems Democrats had with their candidate, their messaging, and their ability to connect with voters.
This is the dumbest analysis imaginable. Democrats lost because they re-nominated an 82 yo unpopular incumbent and when he had a health event on stage they replaced him w the unpopular VP they clearly had no confidence in. Voters didn’t like that she was a CA progressive, so she tried to shake that off by running a completely different campaign, but refused to distance herself from her unpopular boss. This left voters without a clear sense of who she was. She made a lousy VP pick that added almost nothing to the campaign. This is why she lost. Her ONE DAY with Liz Cheney is not. I didn’t consult for her campaign or advise it in any way, only said yes to helping when asked to moderate an event, because I desperately wanted her to win. Part of the reasons Dems struggle is they are unwilling to look facts about voters square in the face and love to pretend the world is different than it is. But you can’t win going forward if you can’t be honest about why your candidate lost. And if you’re looking to blame people for Trump winning, look no further than all the folks who couldn’t be bothered to vote for Kamala because she wasn’t pure enough for them.

Jon Ossoff chats with longtime morning radio host Frank Ski: I spoke to a group of young people yesterday and some of them told me they were feeling despair. And I was very blunt with them that despair is an indulgence. Despair is a luxury that we can't afford.

People are mad but he's 100% right. In order to get shit fixed you can't be a fucking whining defeatist loser.

Has the pope actually read the Bible? Honest question. God commands the death penalty. Moses wrote of it repeatedly. Paul said it is deserving. Jesus affirmed it is carried out by man under God’s authority.

This seems like a reasonable idea with precedent from Obama’s education department. The government shouldn’t be in the business of encouraging people to take loans they won’t be able to repay.

Overall, my sense is this story probably helps Peltola more than it hurts. Like, helps a LOT. She seems normal. Her staff seem like emotionally fragile maladjusted weirdos. Anyway, sucks to be Sullivan, it would be better for him if the story was that Peltola were like loads of her staff evidently are/were.

I am appalled and aghast at the unfair and bigoted vitriol being directed at Mayor Mamdani around 9/11. He was one of a million kids in New York who spent that day terrified, and who carries that experience with him today. I know because I was with him, and we were terrified together. None of the attacks on the Mayor or others like Ramzi Kassem survive even the slightest scrutiny beyond dredging the bottom of the barrel of anti-Muslim slander. I disagree with the Mayor on many things, and have made those disagreements known publicly and privately. But there is absolutely no room for accusing a New Yorker who lived through those attacks of sympathy with the people who perpetrated them. End of story.
