This a great point. The casting process goes through different phases. In another 5-10 years, casting will be different (hopefully in a positive way).

A majority white/multiracial project like 20s years ago would prob have Gabrielle Union or Kerry Washington(watching YA 90s movies on tubi, they were in SO many) in a role but now they'll hire a Zendaya or Tessa Thompson to say they filled a quota without getting push back
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of Black characters were changed to be biracial because casting decided to cast someone biracial.
Let’s look at Y/A shows right. Would you say biracial actresses are replacing black actresses in that space? How I look at it, they aren’t really hiring black actresses for these roles, period. If they hire a biracial actress, that actress is playing a character that’s biracial. Although it still happens, they aren’t hiring biracial actresses to play Black characters.
That’s why I don’t pay it no mind when people disagree about the erasure of black actresses. I’m telling you, multiple black actresses will agree with you. They are the ones that are actually experiencing it.

Kyra and Phallon Pierce are Bailey and Brit Bradley in Netflix’s The Body.
Identical in looks, opposite in control. Bailey lives for drama-the first to cry, laugh, or spiral into chaos. Her twin Brit, feeds off that chaos like oxygen.
Together, they’re the Lions’ built in spectacle: inseparable, unpredictable and impossible to ignore.

This really is the one of the best scenes in the drop to me, the way Gail and Isaiah were such a powerhouse with this dialogue was everything.

Alycia Pascual-Peña at the newport beach film festival. gorgeous gorgeous girl🤍 can’t wait for her next project.
Netflix ain’t putting in all this time and energy into rebuilding their Y/A content just to cancel those shows. As long as people watch and it has a good completion rate, the show will be renewed. Netflix is doing their job, it’s time for the audience to do their part.
