After 7.5 wonderful years, I'm moving on from @newslaundry. It's been the longest stint in my 17 years as a journalist and I leave with very fond memories. After some downtime, I'm looking for new opportunities. I shot these pictures of Mahesh in early 2012 when Indus Creed played in Chennai, one of which they used in their album sleeve. A gifted and influential musician and one of the good ones, a real rock legend. Gone far too soon.

This is a terrible tragedy. Mahesh was not only a lavishly talented trailblazing musician, he also had his heart in the right place - always an outspoken critic of the fascists around us. RIP

This is a big problem. My daughter who moves to class 9 next year will have to drop French and choose 2 Indian languages. I would like her to learn Malayalam or Tamil or Kannada. But there are no teachers for these languages in North India. So only option is Hindi and Sanskrit.
