“If you refuse to accept reality, you will never see it.” … this lady is a trip. 🤡
I see some people are upset I said America is over and the American Dream is dead. I really do believe it. The thing is, and I have respect for older generations of America…. But many older people and even some Gen Xers refuse to recognize that the America we live in today, the America we are voting in today is not the same America our parents or grandparents grew up in. We now have an environment in which about half of the nation is actively organizing and voting against America, against our sovereignty, against our culture and against our values. There has never been a time before in our country where half the nation votes for communism and Sharia Law. This isn’t just another election where we move on when the other party loses. The parties are not the same. Many who claimed to be in the GOP have developed Woke Reich, Neo-Nazi like views and a lack of reason which makes them blame all of life’s issues on Israel, and then the other half of America, the Democrat Party, has a base who is also consumed by conspiratorial brain rot which has made them GOTV for communists and jihadists who openly call for America to be destroyed. So when people say: You are being too dramatic and they say it’s just another election, I tell them they couldn’t be more wrong. This isn’t 2008 pre “fundamentally transform America”. No. We are officially past the point of “fundamentally transforming America” as Barack Hussein Obama, the father of the DSA, set out to do in 2008. We are already fundamentally transformed, and when he used the word transform, he meant destroy. I would appreciate if people would recognize this because I am not a quitter. I have fought tirelessly. But we need to be realistic. If you refuse to name your enemy, you will never defeat it. If you refuse to accept reality, you will never see it.

We got your back, New York!

Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026). arkolith.com/news/news-micr… therepublic.com/?p=843020 governor.ny.gov/news/safer-str…

I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.

I didn’t think it was possible to combine primary-loser-sour-grapes & Islamophobia into a more toxic cocktail than Andrew Cuomo. But Haley Stevens has managed to do it. If she wants to betray civil rights, reproductive freedom, immigrant protections, and working families by endorsing Mike Rogers and trying to give control of the Senate to J.D. Vance and Donald Trump, I guess that's her business — but it’s appalling, oddly patronizing, and simply false to claim that it’s in the interest of Michigan’s Jewish communities. Our safety comes from welcoming the stranger, fighting for universal human rights, and building pluralist democracy — not from endorsing neo-Nazi adjacent MAGA fanatics. Fortunately, there’s a powerful response of solidarity and shared safety, that every Jewish & non-Jewish Michigander can do on Tuesday: Vote for @AbdulElSayed

Michigan Republicans, funded by Musk and other billionaires, have no answers to the struggles facing working families. Instead they are resorting to Islamophobia and are running the most racist campaign in recent history. Together, let's defeat bigotry and elect Abdul El-Sayed.

Ohio, let's do what we can to elect @AmyActonOH as your next Governor and @SherrodBrown as your next U.S. Senator! They’ve dedicated their lives to fighting on behalf of all Ohioans. If we’re willing to organize and mobilize, if we’re willing to turn out in big numbers in Ohio and across this country, if we’re willing to vote for change and vote for Democrats up and down the ballot, then this election might just mark the moment this country began moving in a better direction. So make a plan to vote today at IWillVote.com/OH.

White House spokesman’s post is getting re-circulated
These Daily Mail stories aren’t just tabloid trash, they’re simply made up. Up and down the White House, everyone has been thoroughly impressed with Katie in just a few short days on the job. At the end of this second term, she’ll be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Just after this post, Katie Zacharia resigned/was fired after being “encouraged” to step down by Trump nytimes.com/2026/10/16/us/…

President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man. I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to. It was an honor to work for him.

99% of people are expected to “just deal” with horrible shit they don’t want. But billionaires don’t have to? They get to complain and evade in a way that the rest of us can’t. And this is why they are hated. Not for their money, but their whiny privilege.
No, Mr. Altman. We won’t accept a severe AI cyberattack in exchange for “liberty.” 74% of the American people don’t trust Big Tech Oligarchs. And for good reason. Sam Altman, the co-founder of OpenAI, recently said: “There is a coming tidal wave of cybersecurity problems that are going to come from these open source [AI] models … We're going to, as a society, I think, have to just accept some fairly severe cyber incidents from open [AI] models, in exchange for the liberty that comes with that." Mr. Altman: What do you mean by that? Should we “accept” a global financial breakdown and massive economic pain if AI models hack into the international banking system? Should we “accept” patients dying if hospitals are forced to shut down because AI models hack into the power grid causing massive blackouts? Should we “accept” another Chernobyl if AI models hack into nuclear power plants? No, Mr. Altman. The American people are not willing to accept disaster “in exchange for the liberty” of making Big Tech Oligarchs even richer and more powerful. Let me be clear: The creators of any AI model — open-source or not — are not above the law. If you and other Big Tech Oligarchs make products that commit crimes or disasters, we will hold you accountable for breaking the law — no matter how much wealth and power you have. We must PAUSE advanced AI and permanently BAN artificial superintelligence before it is too late.

ICE is hunting down immigrants with the help of Palantir. In six months, Palantir’s founder, @PeterThiel, will be able to start spending unimaginable sums of money —completely tax-free — to bankroll the political causes dear to his heart. He'll be able to do it thanks to a tax-avoidance scheme he’s been building for more than 20 years, at a staggering cost to the American taxpayer. Let me explain. 🧵

Starting Oct 19, the Trump administration is rolling back Biden-era airline passenger protections, and airlines will no longer have to provide stranded passengers with meals, hotels, or other assistance for delays or cancellations.

I want to talk about Patrick Collison. Let’s start with a simple acknowledgment: he is one of the most impressive philanthropists right now: - When Covid hit, he and Tyler Cowen launched Fast Grants and got money to scientists within days. - He helped launch the Arc Institute, so biologists could do science instead of drowning in paperwork for grants. - And Stripe, under Collison’s leadership, built Frontier: a super ambitious pledge to guarantee a market for carbon removal tech. This is all really awesome! Few billionaires have thought harder about how to do a lot of good with their money. But now we have to talk about what the hell Patrick Collison is doing in California. He has given $15 million to ‘Building a Better California’, one of the most cynical political campaigns I’ve seen in a long time. It's the main vehicle fighting Prop 40: a one-time 5% tax on the state's ~200 billionaires (to make up for federal cuts to healthcare for low-income Californians). And look at how this group does it: - It’s funding an extremely aggressive "No" campaign (opponents are outspending supporters roughly six to one). - It also put two decoy measures on the same ballot. Prop 41 *seems* to be about good governance. Prop 42 is sold as ‘protecting your retirement savings’. But both contain a clause: if either gets more votes than the billionaire tax, the tax is cancelled. - Meanwhile, the retirement story is total nonsense. Prop 40 already exempts pensions. CalMatters calls the deluge of ads misleading and the SF Chronicle calls Prop 41 a ‘cynical poison pill’. - The sad reality is that all this misinformation is working though. Polls show small majorities backing the billionaire tax and the measures designed to kill it. You can vote yes on all three and cancel out your own vote. Most people don’t realize this. Through all of it, Collison HASN'T SAID A WORD about why he's funding this slimy campaign. This is a public intellectual who writes thoughtfully about progress. If he believes Prop 40 is bad policy, he should do the honorable thing and make the case! And tell us what he'd rather do about extreme concentrations of wealth and power, or explain why he thinks they aren't a problem for our democracy and civilization. Instead we get silence + $15 million for a campaign built on misinformation and shady political tactics. @patrickc, what are you doing?

A one-time 5% wealth tax would bring Silicon Valley’s billionaires’ wealth back to where it was just 31 days ago, on September 7. When it was "just" 178% higher than on January 1, 2023. They’d rather let 3 million people lose their health insurance than let that happen.

Hispanic New Yorkers give our city its flavor, sound, and style. Where else can you savor the aromas of chaufa and champurrado on the same block? Hear Mixtec and Quechua on the same train? See a Dominican barber give a Venezuelan kid a fade, a life lesson, and a new accent in one visit? At last night's Hispanic Heritage celebration at Gracie Mansion, we celebrated it all.

This is why the billionaire class is freaking out. Google co-founder Sergey Brin in particular has completely lost it - he has spent 102 MILLION, all to defeat a tiny tax on his ginormous fortune. It's honestly sad to see: so rich, and they still don't understand what's really scarce in life: your fucking time on this planet! Instead, this guy spends hours, days and weeks obsessing over this little tax that he'll barely notice. Pathetic.
If California’s “billionaire tax” passes, it will amount to the first time that a government in the U.S. has successfully taxed the assets, rather than the income, of extremely rich people as a class. newyorker.com/magazine/2026/…
