🇧🇪 Meet Genk fan Stef Jacobs.
👕 16 years ago, he bought a match-worn Thibaut Courtois goalkeeper shirt at an auction in Belgium. It was one of the Courtois' first shirts from his debut season in football.
Fast forward to 2026, and in need of some cash, Jacobs put it up for sale on a second-hand website.
The person who bought the shirt was Thibaut Courtois himself.
At first the fan thought it was all a joke, but Courtois confirmed his identity by inviting him to Spain to attend a Real Madrid fixture and to exchange the old Genk shirt for a new signed Real Madrid jersey.
🗣️ Jacobs: "He really wanted his old shirt back for his collection. I received a shirt from Courtois' current club. I left by plane on Sunday morning for the match, and by Monday evening I was back home with a new jersey. They had already let me know that he was very happy with it. But I hadn't expected him to share it on his social media."

Before the final whistle blew at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Michael Carrick knew what he was going to do.
He acknowledged Cesc Fabregas on Como’s 4-1 win, then strode across the pitch and held up his hands in apology to the few dozen or so Manchester United fans who had stayed through the rain and an utterly lifeless performance.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did similar when losing by the same scoreline to Watford in November 2021. For Solskjaer, the act very much felt like a farewell gesture — indeed he has said he knew his reign was over at half-time.
It is now inevitable to wonder if Carrick is waving goodbye to Manchester United, too.
