I think I can count on a single hand the number of stories ( much less games ) that compelled me ‘again’ to play *as soon as* I reached the end. Exocolonist is one of them. Congrats on the nomination, it’s well-earned.
Exocolonist has been nominated for Best Storytelling in the 2022 Golden Joystick Awards! We're up there with Horizon, Monkey Island, NORCO, Immortality, and Wayward Strand. What an honor and what a great year for storytelling in games! 📖🕹️💖 gamesradar.com/goldenjoystic…

Writers need to stop glamorizing working yourself to the point where you're burned out and don't want to write anymore. It's okay to take breaks. Don't sacrifice your mental health so that your WIP will be finished this week instead of next. Prioritize yourself over your story.

For those of you who have ever been in a serious writing funk, what brought you out of it?

Writers underestimate how amazing it is that they actually wrote a book. The majority of people, in the entire world, will never write a book. Writing takes years of hard work and determination. If you ever think about quitting, just remember you've already accomplished so much.

Something I don’t hear in writing workshops: often the difference between good & great writing isn’t character/plot/language/craft/etc. It’s - do you expand consciousness, do you show us something we never noticed before, do you illuminate a facet of the human condition?

Absolutely. I record most of my work as audio first, then transcribe. Most of that now has a home both on *and* offline.
Today's #writingtip is to back up your work. Remember to save your progress every now and then. Saving your work in multiple places will give you both peace of mind and options if you lose it.
