Water companies get a lot of stick (often deserved) but shout-out to South East Water @sewateruk who fixed a leak causing loss of water pressure to numerous homes locally within 4 hours of it being reported to them this morning

This is playing out like a woke retelling of the Emperor's New Clothes. In this version, the Emperor commits suicide and the boy who pointed out he wasn't wearing any clothes -- even though it was true and everyone knows it was true -- is banished from the kingdom.
Excellent work by @UGent. Now that a serious case of academic fraud has finally been exposed, it’s only fair to open an investigation into the only academic who had the audacity to blow the whistle, despite all the legal threats. “Ghent University has decided to take appropriate action within its powers and the applicable framework.” They don’t mention which “recent public statements” by @nathancofnas will be investigated, obviously because those statements are so appalling that they simply cannot be repeated.

Well Private Eye moves away from the "silly season" sneering and sums up the Arday tradegy really well.

Andy Burnham's department is currently advertising 13 social-media and content jobs.
Almost 50% of the current vacancies advertised for the Cabinet Office overall.
The combined basic salary bill is around £7-800,000 year.
Add National Insurance and Civil Service pensions, and the true annual cost could exceed £1 million.
More than £1 million to promote what the Government is doing - rather than actually doing it.

Remember the movie “The Dallas Buyers Club” about a group of AIDS patients fighting for the right to use cheap, effective drugs against government bureaucrats in the pocket of Big Pharma? The villain was Dr. Anthony Fauci. 🎬👹
Fauci spent the 80s convincing an entire generation that shaking hands might kill them over AIDS. Then he came back decades later and did the exact same fear tour with COVID.
Two pandemics, same script, zero social media the first time to call BS. The man really said “hold my Anthony.” 🦠😷😂
Reminder that almost 35 years ago Tony Fauci was being attacked by AIDS protesters. 📢
This heinous, lying monster should have been in prison a very, very long time ago. 🔒

EXCLUSIVE with @Fhamiltontimes
Louise Haigh was convicted of fraud after a police investigation into stolen and missing mobile phones
Haigh pleaded guilty to fraud by misrepresentation in 2014 after an internal investigation by Aviva, the insurance giant
The Times has been told that the company launched an investigation after Haigh said that company mobile phones had been stolen or had gone missing on repeated occasions
She issued a statement after being approached by The Times saying she had been mugged in 2013 in what was a 'terrifying' experience
She said that she reported the mugging to the police and gave officers a list of what had been taken, including her work mobile phone.
'Some time later I discovered the mobile in question had not been taken. In the interim I had been issued with another work phone
'The original work device being switched on triggered police attention and I was asked to come in for questioning. My solicitor advised me not to comment during that interview and I regret following that advice.
'The police referred the matter to the CPS and I appeared before Southwark magistrates. Under the advice of my solicitor I pleaded guilty - despite the fact this was a genuine mistake from which I did not make any gain.
'The magistrates accepted all of these arguments and gave me the lowest possible outcome (a discharge) available'
She has not commented on the other instances looked into by Aviva

Absolutely nobody on earth is more petulant or self-involved than UK Labour politicians. They genuinely believe that the worst problem the world faces is that social media forces them to hear from their peasants who are angry with them, and they never stop whining about it.🇬🇧

The thing about bond markets is that if Labour said:
"We're going to borrow this money to do a massive investment in nuclear energy, built to Korean standards, we're going to expand our airports and ports, renew and expand Britain's highway and rail systems, renew Britain's armed services and we're going to dramatically overhaul our planning and approvals system to do it rapidly"
Labour would get a very positive response from the markets and its borrowing rate would fall.
Unfortunately what Labour tells the markets is "we're going to borrow money and throw it at our client groups - welfare recipients, pensioners, the public sector and unions - basically the least productive members of society". Oddly enough this doesn't go down very well.
